Hope she is fine and the precautionary action is proved unnecessary.

Most kind. I'm sure it will be, but time will tell. It's been a week since she saw the colleague in question and the colleague didn't get symptoms until a day later.

The 'amusing' thing is all the other people in the office that have lied about having symptoms so they can book a test. But should Test and Trace notify them, even if their test is negative, they should still isolate.....

What should happen i these circumstances is a bit confusing.
Ideally they should be socially distancing at work and if that the case then no one needs to go home or get a test unless they also have symptoms (well that my understanding).
In the real world socially distancing at work is not an exact science and people are either cautious and trying to do the right thing by staying away, or scared and getting tests.
I odds on she will be fine

Oh the instructions are very clear. She was in close contact (it's her supervisor) so she needs to self isolate for 14 days since their last contact. If you try to beat the system (i.e. lie to get a test because you have no symptoms) even if that test is negative, you should still self isolate.

I find it a little more odd that I don't have to isolate. She could be asymptomatically positive, and would probably have passed it on to me. I have no requirement to stay at home <shrug> although I will limit it as much as possible, make sure I wear a mask etc etc.

I don't think any of it is based on science , how can it be if your wife has to isolate but you don't

It’s risk based; if there’s say a 1 in 10 chance she’s caught it from the sick person at work then there’s a 1 in 100 chance that it’s been transmitted to C

How about this one.
Wife has just had a message on the app to say she has been close to someone for more than 15 mins who has tested positive. Isolate for 11 days.
Was due in work tomorrow, part time temp job at large retailer, phoned to say won’t be in.
Cue woman freaking out on other end of phone, ‘oh my god, not another one!’

Reason, when in work no-one is allowed phones with them, so everyone puts their phones in a large bank of lockers. About 30 or 40 staff have all been ‘close to someone‘ who tested positive for more than 15 mins......!
Whoops.

Glad she is OK C.....Had this is work on Monday. Colleague came in and didn't tell anyone she felt ill. I saw here and asked how she was. I was 2 metres away and had a mask on. She said she had the flu jab and it had made her feel back. When I asked what was the symptoms she said she had lost all taste......!!!!!!.....With that I sent here home. We'd her test came back positive. I asked her who whe had come in contact with and she said a few names but said not for more than 15 minutes. The rules state you only have to self isolate if you have been in contact with this person closer than 1 metre (we still use 2 metre though) for more than 15 minutes without a mask. When I spoke to the other colleague she hadn't been truthful as one of them had been sat next to her for around 45 mins so she is now isolating as well for 14 days.......Why do people feel the need to lie over this. She wouldn't be in trouble for not following the rules but we do need to know to stop the spread.

According to this it's 2m, which is where Mrs C tripped it (sitting across a desk for a 1:1)

Maybe. I'm not saying it's not but.

Well, yes. But I'd rather expect that the odds of her transmitting it to me are a **** sight higher than the odds of her having caught it from her colleague. She only has to spend 15 minutes within 2m of her. She's spent over 12 hours within 2m of me since she came home last night.....

You’re supposed to be keeping as far from her as possible. Preferably she’s to isolate in a separate room.

Quite simple, in most cases people have to isolate for 2 weeks on SSP and simply can't afford not to be working.
In her case is she paid her full salary while sat at home, hopefully not even sick? If she is paid her full salary she is very very lucky.

We pay though and she knew this.

This is what the government don't understand because they've never had to live on the minimum wage , people on low wages live hand to mouth, they can't afford not to work so if they feel unwell they dose themselves up and go to work

If their kids are unwell they have nowhere to send them so they dose them up and send them to school , until the government understands they have to pay 100% of minimum wage to stop people doing this nothing will change while they have a choice whether to go to work or not.76541

I'm suprised therefore you don't have half your department claiming they had close contact for 2 weeks off full pay!!
You can't win on this one.
Pay full pay and you have everyone off, pay nothing (SSP) and hardly anyone off.
