Virgin Atlantic files for Bankruptcy.
Funny how billionaires seek bailouts isn’t it.

But at least if you lose your job he gives you a signed picture of him!

35,000 jobs to go at HSBC, they were planning a move to Luxembourg on Brexit when I was there a few years ago.

Business smarts........perhaps that’s why he’s a billionaire and most aren’t? Does he still own the majority of VA and have full control of all executive decisionmaking?

The whole aviation sector has been decimated. Gatwick are running at 250 flight a day currently. It should be 900. Hence why B747, A380, A340 are being off-loaded, off-leased in an attempt to cut running costs.

Dixons Carphone cutting 800 jobs
Pizza Express is restricting and being put up for sale so there another 1,100 jobs

Anyone like to take a punt on the unemployed number come November when the furlough scheme is finished?
At the end of May (most recent statistics issued last month) there were 1.35m unemployed. So all of the job losses in the UK in the last couple of months won't be included.
So I guess we'll find out how may unemployed there were in November in January 2021.
I'd bet it won't be far off 5m :(

I heard similar this morning

C

It's actually rather scary. And we haven't even had the 'second wave' yet. Obviously there is no guarantee we will get a second one, but history points towards all pandemics getting a second and even a third wave.

The hospitality sector is hanging on by a thread, so many of my clients are haemorrhaging cash even being closed.
56 hotels owned by one of my clients is losing at least £10m a week being closed, but if they open and have an occupancy lower than 40% they would lose even more.
The few hotels which they have open, currently have an occupancy of between 20 and 30%.
These guys can absorb these losses as they are owned by ADIA, but the independents and smaller hotels will be in big trouble.
They expect 30% of UK hotels to close this year alone!

And there's the Banking Brexit Flight to consider, might not be that many people but a lot of money.....

Exactly, but let’s not let the facts get in the way of a good story and having a pop at a successful businessman that’s historically created a lot of employment and wealth
