Personally , once this is over , i think there will a whole lot worse to come , unless China takes ownership and agrees to recompence , if they dont , and i dont think they will i forsee a surgical strike .........................they need to know they cant continually do this to the world ,
If it was me I would send China 'the bill'. Its costing the UK economy £2.4bn per day..let alone the human impact! I think China could be in for a rough ride over the next 5 years as more and more companies pull work out and look to redeploy closer to home.

Doubt it. The moment Kevin and Tracey find they can’t get a pair of kiddi fiddler swimming instructor flip flop things from Primark for £1.99, China will be back on the list of places to import from.

I doubt it will happen Loz. China has too many governments by the nuts, and even if you had a global consensus to pressure them (either politically, financially, or both) there will always be someone who breaks ranks. IMHO the time to hold China to account has long since passed; that doesn't mean you shouldn't try, but 'political pragmatism' usually triumphs.

No one knows yet for sure. Several theories are around. Complicated by the false negatives and false positives of test results, percentage of untested asymptomatic carriers etc. Some people think it can be latent and reactivated etc. There are new theories all the time re: it’s pathogenesis. We are too early in the cycle to say for any certainty. It’s a very intriguing pathogen though no doubt! It’s affect on haemoglobin will be key
I’d read somewhere that in some patients the body reacts by clotting the blood.........the problems are obvious.

Well we have to change it , over the last 40 years we have seen the oiginal Made in Japan. Made in Hong Kong , followed by Made in Taiwan , followed in recent years Mexico and India ,perhaps we should be looking to manufacture the more essentials at home, with medium to non essentials In Africa or Burma as the next cheap source, :frusty1: Im incandescant that the CCCP can so blatantly dismiss the cost of human life thoughout the world similar in the way in which it treats its own people when national disasters get totally covered up ie; previous mining catastrophe's or what happened when they flooded the Yansee and Yellow rivers and what is going on with Uyghur population. Someone needs the balls to raise a stick

Do you see that having a favourable outcome? Do you think that would cause them to be contrite and say sorry? Or do you think a vastly worse outcome for the whole planet?

Yes, I agree some changes and shifts should be made. I can't see how we are going to make some major political statement or shift without issues though.

There are ways we can do it through by creating more ourselves to give people a purchase option. Also voting with our feet and consciously try to not purchase/support wares from these countries.

I would like to have more options as some purchases are almost impossible to do otherwise. If they were a little more expensive I would have no issue but it will need to be created. We have lost some much of what we had it will be tough to get it back. Not impossible though.

I see this current situation in our country has brought out the best and worse in people, we have the genuine and decent people trying to help and save lives, the morons who ignore all rules with a disregard to everyone else, and the sanctimonious pricks that seem to have sprung up from everywhere.

Well I cant see many westen governments allowing China to 'get away' with their deceets and **** lies, so there will be economic consequences for them. When the US passes the 100,000 death rate and 10+ million unemployed, there will be 'hawks' in the Whitehouse winding up Trump to seek 'revenge'. It wont be military because it would be far too costly, so almost certainly further economic sanctions. Trump is already having a big spat with China before all of this kicked off, so watch economic sanctions go to an entirely different level when this is eventually over. Ultimately the world will become a much more dangerous place in terms of the risk of major conflict. Just hope I'm wrong for my and all of our kids sakes.

I remember watching the interesting BBC series called Supersized Earth with Dallas Campbell presenting. Mind boggling some of the things we do. Clever and amazing engineering but you wonder at what cost.

He was in a lounge with lots of things in the room back dated to the 70's and something like 70% were made in Britain. Then fast forward to today and pretty much all of it bar the sofa was made outside Britain.

I would love that to be possible. But just can’t see it. People will only vote with their feet via their wallet. It frustrates me that I can’t even buy a decent T shirt that will last years (used to be able to do that by buying a quality brand... I have T shirts bought 20 years ago that have been washed hundreds of times, look better than recent ones washed twice (though they are little tighter these days, if not from shrinking lol).
Since everything moved to being Made In China (and elsewhere similar) from Europe, and got vastly cheaper, (not just clothes) there just isn’t the option any more even if you want to pay more. Brands have become meaningless (all made in the same Chinese factory from the same materials).

This will not change... an elite T shirt manufacturer will go bust fast if it’s t shirts last a decade, even if some want to buy them for a premium, there won’t be enough.

People will pay a bit more for something purely due to its origin, (like fairtrade) but I suspect not enough to pay the huge difference needed for something entirely designed and built in Europe.

We are stuck with the system, everything is global, everything interconnected, price is the king of everything... and anything else is utopian, won’t happen....

Sorry wont cut the mustard in my book , ( money will probably suffice some nations ) personally i feel that we have to organise the dismantling of the CCCP, and im sure the strategic think tanks are already in the planning stage, Military strikes or the threat of will only work providing the RoW are on board , in which case there would probably be an agreement to be made somewhere along the line .

I presume there will be a few on here , that want to sweep the whole thing under the carpet as if it was a dream and carry on as normal .............................in which case it will be laid on the laps of their offspring to deal with when it happens again in 5/10/15/20 years time

Doesn’t matter what folk on here want. Not even your “millennials” that infest this board (they don’t exist here, by the way). Completely irrelevant. We are below the level of pawns. Dismantling the CCCP also completely impossible by military means (or the threat of). It rarely works well even for taking out banana republic dictators. You’re dealing with a regime in charge of one third of the worlds population, that’s increasingly likely to be allied to Russia (another huge chunk of population controlled by an over-armed dictator for life). Different beast
