Are we really that desperate for a drink?

Thats not correct. All pubs and restaurants in England can open from 6am today. It isnt just food serving pubs.

There were a few that were trying to open at one minute past midnight.

Lots of misinformation been circulated over the past few weeks. Mostly based on speculative journalists trying to second guess what the rules would be.

I was referring to Dublin as per the post I was commenting on

The crazy thing is that Boris picked a saturday to let the pub open again.

I really don't see it makes a huge amount of difference. I think pubs will be full at their reduced capacity for some time. Weekends or weekdays, they won't be any more crowded (again looking at the videos from Dublin, that was a Friday)

Well, if you don't want to go, stay at home.
I'll be one of the brave.
One of the first Over The Top.
I'll be propping up a key part of our economy.
I'll be making sure our pubs stay open.

Today, Michelin starred lunch in London, followed by a table booked in a pub with some friends, then on into the night we shall go.

I'm an adult and can make my own decisions, and am acting within the law.

When all the pubs start turning into Coffee Shops and flats, I wonder how many on here will start moaning that Britain's Great Pub Trade is in decline due to [insert Daily Mail reasoning]?

That depite having not spent a penny in them.

More people back to work means there will be less people around during midweek during the daytime. Much easier to accomodate customers in reduced capacity premises.

Weekend when a higher number of people are off work means more potential people trying to get in to a reduced capacity premises all day. While the novelty of the pubs being open again has not had any time to wear off.

That's the rules........but let's see.....

Actualy the rules are very good and may well stop the binge drinking.......Hope it goes well as it will keep me in a job.

I cant speak for other premises but I do have my kicking out boots on standby.

Im not allowing anybody not sticking to the rules risking the health of customers or the health and jobs of staff or the premises licence.

You're on the front line, but by my reckoning there are still more than enough people on a midweek to overfill the reduced capacity. Good luck tonight (although I'm sure you won't need it!) Can we get a report on how it was?

Nah, most of them are not great, but if you want a cheap, half decent pint in London, you can do worse.

You can do better, obviously, but they are the Pret of pubs really. Totally predictable, and not likely to kill you

The wetherspoons in Hemel Hempstead is a complete dive that should be shut down, the one in Berkhamsted (4 miles away) nothing special, but not mobbed by youngsters getting mashed on cheap beer.

“Not likely to kill you” you’ve been going to the wrong Wetherspoons.

It’s weird though. The one here in Worcester looks like a lovely coaching inn but is rougher than a badger’s bottom.

The inlaws took me to the one in Ramsgate which you’d imagine to be a right dive but it wasn’t.

Decided to have one in my back garden instead of going to a pub!
