Are we really that desperate for a drink?

My thoughts as well....We have been clearing Weatherspoons for two weeks and stocking them for a week and a half..........They will be carnage.........You can see the young ones now after a few pints....'get out of my space'....'I'm not in you space ars4hole'.........both of them then in each other's space.....

Not quite sure why. It wasn't like that in any Wetherspoons I ever went to before. Even at Christmas.

Absolutely will be in a pub on Saturday. If I can get in one (tried booking but all locals full). Managed to book a restaurant. Will try the pubs after. As I’m an anarchist at heart, will probably smash something on my way home if I can’t get in any

Round here pubs were (pre CV) busy on w/end and if something like a Quiz was on during the week.
Sunday to Thursday there were about 5 people in and we were worried they would go under through lack of trade
Well, at the peak of lockdown Bourton on the Water, and other honey pots saw most of the food and drink outlets carrying on with disregard. Thanks chaps.
To those who may think that I'm casting a dampener recall that Risk comprises two factors.
  1. Probability
  2. Impact.
Albeit probability be at manageable levels, impact is dependent upon what part of society one is. If one is young hearty and with robust resilience then it may be considered that the impact would be a manageable discomfort. Your personal risk is low.
However, if one......

Oh s0d it. It's bleeding obvious, you can work it out.

The lockdown was never about minimising death rates but being able to manage the threat. It required collective responsibility not only to yourself but the common purpose.
We are now in a phase of transitioning away from that collective responsibility to one of managing personal threat.
A shift to the defensive for those at risk.

I for one am not pleased that my personal restrictions are being further extended for longer than would have been necessary if rates had allowed eradication by summer end as is predicted in Scotland.

Although CAA has relaxed restrictions on Flying in that 2 may be in close proximity in a cockpit, and in theory I could obtain my check out and revalidation for my license. That's fine for low personal risk. Not sure how rigorous the measure would be.

Just a thought re Lockdown, all those workers that have been furloughed at 80% wage (Thankfully not me) and the fodder that don't want work have been picking up 100% of their benefits? Awesome....
It appears the only loser in this will be the garden variety working man....

I've always quite liked Wetherspoons but anyway. I doubt they'll be as bad as people want to make out. Maybe a couple of days then people will remember that they can meet their friends at home and drink even cheaper.....

You live in a nice area then, the only REALLY nice Weatherspoons I've been in was in Wimborne.

Nah, most of them are not great, but if you want a cheap, half decent pint in London, you can do worse.

You can do better, obviously, but they are the Pret of pubs really. Totally predictable, and not likely to kill you

I remember the first time I saw a Witherspoons, opened on Leicester Square 1993. 79p a pint. 5 quid to get drunk. I was a student. Happy days. Although the last time I was in London, the Marquee on charing cross road is now one of the that chain too. It’s odd being in a pub where you can remember as a club having so many drunken memories

Bizarre Pubs can't open unless they serve food and only table service, interesting how many that didn't serve food before now do

Thats not correct. All pubs and restaurants in England can open from 6am today. It isnt just food serving pubs.

There were a few that were trying to open at one minute past midnight.

Lots of misinformation been circulated over the past few weeks. Mostly based on speculative journalists trying to second guess what the rules would be.

This weekend will be carnage...………..Although the volume we have delivered is around 50% against projection...Be interesting to see what happens but no way will someone who has had a skin full obey social distancing.

If they dont or refuse to obey social distancing they will be removed. Same applies to singing chanting cheering or any noisy boistorous behavior.

The crazy thing is that Boris picked a saturday to let the pub open again.

It doesnt take much thought to say Monday or mid week would have been a better option. It would have kept more people away from the pubs. Lower number would mean its easier for the public to adapt to the new measures.

That's the rules........but let's see.....

Actualy the rules are very good and may well stop the binge drinking.......Hope it goes well as it will keep me in a job.
