If your healthy you‘re wealthy !
I think this transcends all material wealth. No matter how wealthy you are, you can’t beat the grim reaper and we all have a limited time to enjoy life. Look at one of the Billionaire Barclay brothers who went down the crow road this week when his time was up at a typical age of death of early 80’s and not of Covid. No amount of money could help when his time was up

Ive been very fortunate in life and made some decisions than in hindsight turned out to be good ones, but I don’t want to go leaving all my stash to the kids as they need to learn to make their own way in life. Don’t put it off till tomorrow as that day might not come.

Considering my level of education , left school at 16 with some cse's I think I've done OK but it's all through hard work , 4am starts 6 day weeks ,10 hour days

I missed a lot of life through being at work when I was younger , it took me 4 days of a holiday before I could start enjoying it because I felt I should be at work

I'm **** with money , my mum said it burned a hole in my pocket when I was 10 and she wasn't wrong

Asset rich cash poor but the one thing I never did was remortgage the house , my payments all went one way and now it's paid for

One thing I'll never do is own another Maserati , I went in with Rose tinted glasses , i'm sad to say it but the reason they're relatively worthless at 15 years old is they're just not special enough to justify the horrific bills they can throw up.

Who'd have ever thought a 2 door ford escort would be worth more than a maserati

...but I don’t want to go leaving all my stash to the kids as they need to learn to make their own way in life. ....

I think it was Richard Branson who said, "I want to leave my kids enough that they can do something, but no so much that they can do nothing."

(I don't have enough for that to be an issue, BTW.)

But actually my plan is to try to spend every penny. But getting the timing right is an issue, as I don't really want to spend half of it on profits for an annuity company..

We don't do this here in UK
Not our temperament.
I was shocked initially when Jacqueline insisted I visited her relatives in Greece.
Every time I stopped to fill up with petrol.
A crowd would form.
Very sweaty.

Q1. What do you earn?

Q2. How much is your house worth?

Q3. How much is your car worth?

Q4. How many sons do you have?

I have a very nice daughter. You can have her for 3 donkeys.

Took me a while and Jacquie assured me that it was their way of determining where you fitted.

You get a steel stare from me buddy
Where can can I get three donkeys... Ah yes, Bolton Wanderers back line...

Oh no, what have I done. I should have seen this before I bought my GranTurismo and should forget about a GranSport!

Health and Time are the two things money doesn't buy. You only realise when you have a close call!

The only exception is the granturismo as it was still on sale until a couple of years ago and is still viewed as a current car.

So as long as you can afford it and are happy to accept it may throw up a 5k bill at any time you'll be fine but QP and 4200 , £2000 a corner for wishbones , 5k plus to replace a rotten subframe , 4k for a clutch makes Maserati an unviable brand for most people(wives) even when the asking price is under 10k.

You can see that by how long many cars take to sell , unless they're given away or top examples with no miles on that have already had thousands spent on them , like a £1000 service every year even if the only mileage it's done is mot and back they take months to sell in an ever dwindling pool of buyers

A controversial view for a Maserati forum. I for one love my Maser and it’s more than worth what I spend.

Definately not rich - for sure I've blown plenty over the years mainly related to cars and travel but I've enjoyed it. Went through some rough years in the 2000's but was never on the breadline because I always found something to do (delivering cars for BCA for peanuts at one point). Now I have a good job again and made some reasonable investments over the years. Target is to retire at 55 ( 4yrs to go) at which point the kids will hopefully do something with their lives - but I won't fully retire just do something I enjoy to keep busy.

As far as Maserati goes, well I do get hacked off when people do the 'you must be minted to have a GranTurismo', cheaper than a new Focus or your PCP pile normally shuts them up! Trades upping quotes when they see it doesn't help either.

Seeing lots of friends run themselves into the ground with health & work over the last few years has been a real leveller - happiness is definatley not monetary BUT it helps!

How many posters on SM currently own a Maserati , a fair number are ex owners

A realistic one though , half of the posters on this forum don't own one and are unlikely to by a chrysler in an italian party dress anytime soon

Haven't got a pot to pißß in me!

I'm so poor I don't have one penny to rub together. I've had to sell two kids for their organs, and I've made a small living being a sperm donor, though I have used up my bucket and half now , it's all you get you know.

Some good news though, my son who is 25 and has never had any clothes since we couldn't afford any, now has a flat cap, so he can look out of the window now at least.

It's been lard butties all the way, but I love my kids more than any pig, and that's saying summert....
