Hi C
Yes seen those and may just bite the bullet with them. However they have different parameters to the original and also their throw seems to be a lot less so I'm wondering how they will perform.

I'm toying with the idea of replaceing them with these http://www.wilmslow-audio.co.uk/jordan-eikona-2-diameter149mm-pair-704-p.asp

and doing away with the tweeter and cross over...

(much mroe expensivbe though!!)

I'd love to tinker with speaker design and build If I had time and space

I'd have thought you'd be as well to go and start auditioning new speakers. In honesty after nearly 30 years I doubt the remaining components of your current pair bear much relationship with the behaviour of them when new (think of what happens to tyres after 30 years), but people do tend to get attached to things :)

Best of luck

It's all change at our house, I bought a Rotel power amp for next no money so thought i'd give it a trial, just waiting in for a Tisbury Passive Pre amp to be delivered , 30 days free trial so if it's not a dramatic improvement I can send it back and ebay the rotel

As of last month I'd finished
Spendor S6e Speakers
Marantz CD6006UK cd player
The matching UK amp appeared on facebook last week for £150 , bargain and it sounds great
Rega Planar 3 just back from the menders.

Only I've just seen something I've never heard of until now , a Naim UnitiQute , all in one amp, streamer thing so I'm considering that now, it's up for less than the cheapest sold one on ebay so as long as it works I could trial it for free and sell it on if I didn't like it.

While looking for a review I found a recommendation for a subwoofer cable though

Go for it. Unlikely to be disappointed by any Naim product compared to your current set up if you have an ear for clarity, timing and staging

I am probably moving to Naim equipment this year, I like my current Tag Audio setup and it really builds a sound stage but it can't match the separation of my mates Naim system. However I won't be buying a £10k cable

You'll be wasting your money then , you have to budget at least 30k for cables or it'll sound ****

I notice it's special order only , probably goes like this

somebody's ordered one

**** off

no, I mean it they have

Naim stuff is indeed very good, although to my taste always a little too laid back.

In terms of convenience I have a Cyrus Stream XP+ and there's very little that would tempt me to go back to not having all my music stored upstairs.

Must back it up, actually....

Oh no, I recall I have two copies, so that's OK

I'm going to give it a go , if it's better I can sell the amp and audioengine B1 , if not I shouldn't lose any money selling it on

Consider running with Naim speaker cables as they do make a difference..... if run in the correct direction. The downside is they are not exactly flexible/hideable

I had some naim cables but I couldn't hide them well enough to put the speakers where I wanted them without domestic grief so I'm using QED silver special 25th anniversary

It might be a naive question, but is the quality on Spotify just not sufficient, so self-ripping CD's at a higher quality becomes the only option?
