They are made by Brummies and bearing in mind Ozzy Osbourne was clever enough to leave you can imagine what the ones who’ve stayed are like.

I’ve gotta HSE petrol engined Velar with lots of options ordered by me from new.

Had it 18 months and apart from needing the fuel rail replaced and a couple of software updates it’s been faultless. It does everything I wanted from a winter daily.

I do think you need to spec these carefully though, and by the time you have you’re in RR Sport territory. I think mine was £75k by the time I’d finished. Essential options were petrol engine, deployable tow bar and tow assist package, air suspension, adaptive headlights and a full size spare alloy. I also added some of the clever off road stuff because I am often towing a car trailer through the alps in winter and it helps if the car does the thinking.

I’ve no complaints. Hope this helps.

Hum I may just go for the new Evoque then if the Velar is problematic as it’s supposed to be even better and another step up.

It will be leased.

All my big Rangies, and our Evoque, have been ultra reliable - obviously far more more so than my Ferraris, Maseratis, Porsches, etc. Thought of changing the Evoque for a Velar a year ago, but didn’t like the small front door opening - I actually found it difficult to get into the Velar with the seat in the position I’d have it for driving. But you’re so small you might be okay Wattie.

That said, the first 4x4 SUV I had was a Cayenne and that was very good and fault free. But as soon as I upgraded that to a proper Rangie I knew I’d found the real deal. Have now had a full fat Rangie for the last decade as my winter daily and can’t imagine myself being without one.

Probably and as mine has been 100% reliable, what’s your point?

Mine is the Engenium TD engine 170hp

The problematic stuff people have mentioned seems to be engines. So if they have the same engine then surely they’d have the same problems. But like I said the inlaws have had a whole string of stuff from Solihull and I don’t remember them having one problem.

Ok, but to be fair it’s engine didn’t require replacing.....which I’m a little more concerned about, other than your opinion of what it looked like.
Nice dancing emoji by the way, presumably this was one of the least concerning problems of RR ownership you’ve experienced..., hence the celebration?

Haha that was just my experience but the dancing emoji was the £30K bill that I didn’t have to pay thanks to the car being under warranty. On the bright side the RRS has been ultra reliable since and I can’t imagine life without one- it does everything perfectly.

The Velar unfortunately doesn’t give you the same feeling the current RRS or FFRR does.

Indeed. But you can’t get air suspension on the Jag. Or you couldn’t when I bought mine.

Why did the engine need to be replaced?

I'm sorry I'm not exactly sure but something about the coolant getting dumped into the engine. I remember I was driving the car- everything was absolutely perfect, stopped at a traffic light, slight stutter and the engine died. Would not crank or anything. All I had was a low coolant warning after the incident.

So after a little research I have decided that I’m looking for an HSE Velar Model, Petrol, with this look. Panoramic roof, Meriden stereo, ventilated seats.
I’m gonna hang off looking for around 6-8 weeks as that gets us near the end of the Oz tax year and private buyers/dealers/the economy will be on its knees by then and I’ll get a bargain.66566g6656766568

Sorry, had 2 experiences of RRs, both cost big bucks once manufacturer warranty ran out, never again.

The new Evoque with flush handles looks nice and I could have it for £220 pm with 2k down
Not bad....

my money would go on something boring but reliable such as a hybrid CRV or RAV it’s all the car you need
