Be en looking longingly at the DBS for months and that one particularly looks stunning. I have always said a V12 Vantage is my dream car but I'm beginning to think I would have a DBS first if I could after looking around the Carbon Black a Edition one they have at Dick Lovett....Such an elegant car yet aggressive at the same time....Stunning........

These are the two I would hVe to take a look at if buying...

Nicholas Mee - Very rare with the Carbon Bucket seats.

And the Dick Lovett one.

Andy.
Thank you - you have found another two great examples !

I had a good look around the DL one Malcolm and it is just a stunning motor car. It was parked next to a Vanquish and one thing that hit me was that the DBS was much more elegant but still aggressive. Plus they don't seem to be shedding anymore money where as the Vanquish still is.

I confess that I am quite in love with my Vantage. It's a wonderful place to be and a dream to drive. It's also outrageously fast and sounds epic. The trouble is, it sounds best over 3.5k rpm and hard 0n* the gas, and by then you're going far too quickly. I should imagine.

* rude word

A Vanquish is in a different league for me.....V12 for starters and price as well. This car was what 80k more when new. Aston these days are in a different league to Maserati. Maserati are more a competitor to Jaguar etc....Look at the range. Great cars don't get me wrong but years ago I saw Maserati as an exclusive brand up there with Aston Martin etc...Not anymore. Going from a GT to a Vanquish for me is a step up.
Maserati has a huge problem IMO.
They simply haven’t made a desirable car for years.......the Ghibli, new QP and Levante just don’t have the “je ne said crois” anymore.
Hence the exodus of many on here to other brands who are making desirable cars.
The forum recently celebrated 9 years......If Maserati don’t get their finger out in 9 more years it’ll be mainly a “near vintage” car forum full of some die hard members cherishing their V8’s.
Sad really that the direction, excitement and inspiration has been lost.

Maserati have stated recently that they made a mistake going down the route they have. They will make the Alfieri and it will be a success. Fiat group have spent all their time and money on Alfa Romeo and are only now turning their attention back to Maserati.
I still believe the Granturismo Sport to be a great car, as well as the Stradale.
People heading over to Aston Martin is understandable, 4 recently on here. But do remember that these folk were spending considerably more money, £90k or so on a V12 Vantage, £95k on a Vanquish, £125k on a DB11 and £70k or so on a DB9. You’ll always get more car when you put £50k alongside your px.

Agree that the GT S and Stradale are still desirable cars and have that Maserati magic that we are all aware of. Great that Maserati are now learning from mistakes. Hope it all works a and isn't too late. Also understand why they did what they did at the time.

I’ll only swap the Strad for an Alfieri. Nothing in between interests me.

The good news is that I should still have 2 years in the Strad which is no hard problem.

Talking to Zep the other day, I am considering keeping the Strad till the end of my days.

The only downside is that Mrs Conaero wandered out into the garage with a cuppa for me and remarked...”you know, I think I would like to start driving this car”

Has anyone got a spare garage I can store it in and tell her I sold it?

I would have been happy to pay less if Maserati had something I fancied. A Strad would have been top off the list but optically too similar to the GTS. Yes, yes, I know... it’s very different, but the silhouette would be more or less unchanged and for me it was time for something different. And smaller. And the no rear seats thing is nice. Makes me feel 20 again!

Your Strad’s just lovely, Matt. And the more so once you’ve put it back together again with all its fruity CarPlay fitted. Looks like a keeper to me.

As for Mrs Conaero.. you must have really pi5sed her off. That’s some messed up passive-aggressive stuff she’s laying out for you. Tread very carefully, and hide the knives.

“Makes me feel 20 again!”
You can’t put a price on that can you.
Let’s hope the Alfieri model rekindles this emotion once again and brings new and old buyers back in droves to the brand.

It’s quite sad to think that this could be the last petrol sports car Maserati make.
