Anyone know of somewhere that can remap the ZF box?

Indeed Zep, what I was getting at is that’s is that it’s the Maserati code you are dealing with, not ZF’s.
The box itself does have ZF software in it, as the local agent was advising that they check for updates when doing a gearbox service and if ZF have an update, it goes in. But as you say, it’s not that which controls the shifts.

Found a tuner and car booked in. They reckon that they can change the parameters in both the ECU and TCU to complement each other. Had another tuner (one who provided the remap) also said that they could change the TCU parameters on the 8 speed ZF box.

Without paddles, once you select manual you push forward or pull back on the stick to change up or down (sequential style). Wouldn’t surprise me if there is a similar setup to the z4. Research this weekend pulls up lots of bmw maps that get rid of the auto change in manual, changes torque limits in certain gears (mainly 3rd and 6th) and shift change points depending upon required style of driving.
Maybe I’m asking too much of the ghibli? Shame if that’s the case as it’s the one car the Mrs likes to drive lol.
In the absence of paddles doesn't it have little buttons behind the wheel (pretty much where the paddles would be)? I know that's not your point though

As the aforementioned artist is myself, I am interested to find out if you did achieve this feat with the transmission?

I am cautious that it seems you have a zf8 box so your tuner may still not be able to do anything with the zf6.

Car finally sorted!!!
The reason for looking to change the TCU mapping was that the car would not continue to accelerate when changing up (especially with foot flat down between 5th and 6th or 6th to 7th). The tuner who was going to look at the TCU didn’t. They suggested that the variators were knackered and didn’t want to get involved. One oil change, 4 new solenoids ( big thanks to Dale at prestige for top tip), and a new battery have fixed the slightly erratic idle however it still wouldn’t reliably accelerate.
Cats checked and lamda’s changed - no difference.
looked into retro fitting paddles to see if I could use them to effectively drive around the issue. Typically as my car has a manually adjusted column the bracket the paddles bolt to isn’t there. Thought about making one and getting someone to weld it to the column but decided it was too much hassle. After seeking advice from various specialists and main dealers common consensus was to remove the map however not many were interested in doing it or we’re booked up solid for months. Approached original tuner (who’s map is on the car) and asked their advice. They asked for me to bring it to them. Bit of a trek but booked it in as a last ditch attempt to get it working properly. They were Brilliant!!
Identified that the boost was fluctuating a little and when it spiked it set off a limiter and cut the boost. Confirmed the boost levels were safe and raised the limit just enough to account for the spike/fluctuation. Also put their latest TCU map in. They had the car 1 and a half days and didn’t charge me a thing. The TCU remap has made a huge difference making the changes almost undetectable, very quick and smooth. Dyno graph shows torque levels being maintained past 5500rpm which it wasn’t previously. Although it wasn’t about the figures, they were more impressive than both I or the tuner was expecting at 460bhp and 529 lbs ft peak.
Can now remove all the cars saved in my autotrader account and book the car in for a bumper respray to make it prettier.

All's well. Sort of truism in IT that if something is working, look at what you changed. Although some of the things that were suggested were, well, left field!
