The story I heard today is that apparently in the USA, anti-vaxers, who were also former anti-maskers, are now staring to wear masks when around vaccinated people to try to avoid catching extra-head syndrome, or 5G-poisoning or something, that is supposedly given off by vaccinated people. You could not make up the nonsense that is going round.

.... I'm just basing that on the professional advice of vaccine and public health experts at the NHS, CDC, WHO, and ....

They can be trusted.

:) NHS
:) CDC
:) WHO
:) just about everywhere else of any repute
 media scare stories
 dodgy YouTube videos
o_O conspiracy websites
 a vague feeling that if the government wants you to do something it must be a scam
 advice from random strangers on car forums.

If were you I wouldn’t get it ( subject to you both having no health or work related issues)
So you have now moved into David Vine mode. You now think you have enough intelligence and knowledge to personally try and influence others to do as you think. I think this reply is quite offensive. You should be ashamed of yourself. Will you personally take the blame if they don’t get vaccinated and them one of them dies. Pathetic.

The term is “Illusory Superiority”, which I propose is present in equal amounts in real life and online. That guy at the pub who just HAS to chime in with his supposedly authoritative knowledge.

Quite happy to overdose now I’ve reassessed the situation.

I think you need to calm down......here’s some FACTS- from the NHS.

Based upon my statement- “If i were you I wouldn’t get it ( subject to you both having no health or work related issues)”

BC67C84C-2D13-474A-9BEB-BD4935FDB145.jpeg

Yup, 90 people in over a year......oh it’s so deadly.
555 who had issues.

Who’s pathetic, you or me......?

It’s people like you who “fear monger”.
The facts don’t support your argument and don’t give me the “we must all do our bit” sh1t because that involves vaccinating kids and they don’t need it either.

I find your inability to see that this doesn’t kill everyone quite offensive.

Have a great day hiding under your duvet.....just in case.

Then you can apologise.

Yeah I heard that about Maserati owners too, a right toffee-nosed mob apparently. I hear they even have their brake calipers painted to match their trousers.......

The misconception here is that the vaccination is being done to protect the person receiving the vaccine as its primary purpose.
Your stats are correct. Young, healthy people are less likely to die if infected with most COVID strains. But that’s just not the point of COVID vaccination.
Vaccination of this type is done to stop the spread of an infectious disease by making it more difficult for the disease to find new hosts. Reducing the R0 below 1, causing the spread to cease.
Those people who acquire, carry, and spread the disease without being harmed significantly are actually the biggest problem, not the smallest, as they remain active and contact more potential hosts!
I have no doubt of your intellect, and trust that seeing the mathematical concept described thusly will bring you ‘round.
I already had COVID back in early 2020, but got my jab anyhow, just to be sure I was part of the solution, not a contributor to the problem.
Those who describe such a mindset as being one of fear or weakness are actually broadcasting their own fear and weakness.

I’m well aware of the theory of vaccinating everyone. The misconception is everyone needs it.

Fact is.
1.You cannot vaccinate your way out of this.
There are too many people that you’d need to get around.....almost 8billion.
Even today they are suggesting boosters to deal with new strains.

What evidence is there these mutations are more deadly?

2 The problem is the pandemic has been redefined from “deaths” to “infections”.
This is ridiculous.

There is no requirement to vaccinate those not at risk. There is a far greater requirement to vaccinate those that are and keep them safe....with boosters if reqd.

So I’m not coming around to the suggestion that we all need it.

At the moment we don’t all need it and the “let’s all do our bit ” is actually stretching the available limited resources and vaccines away from those currently at risk.

The facts back this up, not the fear mongering.

It’s quite funny really.
Have u read your posts from a year or so ago.
You and I have flipped positions.
Look at this

Last paragraph
“Lock down borders - wrong
Self-isolate the entire population - wrong
- Wildly disproportionate in the face of a mostly non-lethal but quite infectious virus. You would be having to do this a couple of times a year whenever there was a scare”

(Australia and NZ followed my path....and life has been normal. Trouble is now politicians cant extricate themselves from the path they've created as we're all apparently gonna die if they do)

Unbelievable what a bit of fear does init!

There is little point bouncing off the walls again to end up in the same place. So let’s not.

At least what it does show is that people’s views are changing in response to the way things have progressed. Attributing a specific emotion to that is probably not helpful though.

With the exception of me being called ''David Ike'' and that I'm ''pathetic'' Zep its all pretty good natured around here i would suggest.
Usual exchange of views.

Indeed. It’s not on, in either direction.

Here’s some more “Illusory Superiority” for you.

Scott Morrison Australian Prime Minister 15 March 2020
(Full speech below)

The facts and the science, the medical advice will continue to drive and support the decisions that we are making as a National Cabinet, as indeed as a federal Cabinet at the Commonwealth level. But the truth is that while many people will contract this virus that it’s clear, just as people get the flu each year, it is a more severe condition than the flu, but for the vast majority, as I said last week, for the majority, around 8 in 10 is our advice, it will be a mild illness and it will pass. However, for older Australians and those that are more vulnerable, particularly those in remote communities and those with pre-existing health conditions, it is a far more serious virus, and that is our concern. Our aim in all of this is to protect the most vulnerable. The most at risk”

So in a year they took an anticipated 2 out of 10 problem (it’s actually around .3 given current global death rates) and turned it into a 10/10 everybody problem.

The facts and the science have been ignored by the very people who said they would be followed.
