I have personal experience of pushy accident management companies trying their hardest to put me in a £250 a day Mercedes for the 14 days it took to fix my wife's car, adding £3500 to the insurance claim.

I declined because I had another car she could drive but they didn't like it.

And then if you do end up in a flash car, they then try and screw you for the smallest stone chip or micro scratch on collection!

At the time my wife's office was above a supermarket,so the car park was busy, even though I'd told them numerous times I didn't want the car they sent all the paperwork anyway, the excess was £1000, there's no way she'd have taken it to work with that hanging over us

When wife had incident in her newish mini i used it as an excuse to buy £500 w124 e230, which i loved so much i kept and year and sold it to a breaker for £250 at mot time ( came with fulk mot)
Its the best car ive had for speedbumps
Didnt want a hire car

Remember when deciding to write off a car they also take into account the re-sale value of the written off car/scrap value so it’s not price of repairs vs value but price of repairs vs difference in value.
