Any experiences moving from GTS to F430?

At the end I decided to wait a year or so and save up for a 458, 430 just doesn’t seem that much more than my MC Shift GTS that justifies 2.5 times the cost.

Drove 430 and my car back to back , definitely loved the sound of my car more . And overall felt my black on black GTS had better visuals and build quality over f430. However 458 is a whole different story , and whole different price bracket . So time to save and wait .

McLaren is out of questions for me , it feels scientific based than passion and emotions for what I could get in Ferrari or Lamborghini they are expensive here and parts are crazy high too.

Thanks all for the input and great comments.
I think you are making exactly the right choice. Personally I wouldn’t rule out a Cali T. At the prices they are now- you might not have to wait. Faster and newer than a F430, ok the sound isn’t as good but boy are they good value for money. The 458 is a fantastic car though.

I've been watching Cali T prices with interest. With the Portofino launch, stock numbers of Cali T at dealers seem to have rocketed up. Re the sound, I wondered if Larini might have a solution

I agree, a 458 is a lovely thing....off over to Autotrader now and kick the piggy bank.

...with careful negotiation one could be had for £120k. If they hit £100k, I would be interested...the wife, probably less so :(

Have you lot -as in the UK- observed an increase in 458 prices? Seems to me so, about 15 to 20% in the past year. Maybe it's just my local market?

I actually thought a lot about Cali T, whilst it’s a marvellous car I want my Ferrari experience be a sports car . I heard a Cali T few weeks ago and the sound reminded me of my C63S v8 turbo. Kind of there but artificial . Don’t know what’s the trick with GTS Exhaust but I feel it cleanses my soul as I hear it echos with its deep throaty sound ! Haha

Maybe F12 will top it up if I decide I want a 2 in 1 ferrari. Or a 458 if prices don’t rocket up like mad .

What’s the reliability like on the 12C?
Well - that’s why the MP4 is “so cheap” a such a recent and capable car. Reliability reputation is poor. Electric and some parts of the power train. Supposedly makes the F430 cheap to maintain in comparison.
Although you could be lucky and buy a good one that never has any problem, I believe the price difference between the F430 and mp4 points to the desirability and reliability situation

I agree with the 2.5x times the cost isn’t justified - as I think the GTS is the value for money.
But although the 458 is superior to the 430 on most points, I don’t think that the 4-5 times ratio is justified either.

Let’s watch the brexit space with a potentially weaker £ and import tax on cars... that would continue to push the new Ferrari’s prices up and support used models from further depreciation.
I still think 458s are a better use of money (assuming it’s a finite resource for the common of us mortals) that 488s - without getting into the N.A. vs Turbo engine convo

That’s the point isn’t it? If you have, say, £80k to spend, 458 isn’t going to be in budget, but a 430 would be. And if I wanted a 2 seater mid-engined V8 that’s where my money would go

That’s exactly what I did. I didn’t have the balls to put £150k into a car as the most expensive sports car I had owned to date was the GT - so going from £30 to £80-90k was already scary - independently than what I could afford.

If I ever sell my F430 I would now feel more comfortable to own a £130-150k car now - as it’s only really a £50k step up from where I stand now... as long as they’re not depreciating much

The minimum spend for a sporty V8 Ferrari is now around £60k, as that is what you'll need for a 360. Move to £75k (minimum), and then you can chose between a 355, a 430 or an early Cali. But to get to a 458 you need another £50k on top, as they start at £125k. (The Cali-T starts at around £115k.)

Out of that lot, a good case could be made for any of them, as they all offer fun, exclusivity, etc. I'd be happy with any of them and at the above prices believe they all offer good value and good times.

In the short term, with the Portofino coming on tap, I'd see the Cali T as the one most likely to suffer further depreciation.

What about my poor 348? ;) (Rangies stablemate.)
