Another wheel - repairable

Who the he££ did this?

I've no idea how this happened. I'm usually acutely conscious of wheel scrapes.

This must have happened yesterday. Where, when, how, I've no idea.

Enough ranting.

Granturismo.
I've had wheels refurbished before.

This looks bad. Not only the scuff around the rim, but looks as though a chip has been taken out.

The question is, is or should this be repairable; safely?

Looks fine to fix as the holding bead area is not damaged.

That chip will be filled in no time.

The place in Swindon does a cracking job and is used by DL as well so they are used to Maserati wheels...esp mine!

Awwww, that's a relief Peter, thanks mate.

I've used a chap in Swindon a couple of times, excellent, but prob too far from here now.

Much relieved.

I'd not bother with any 'smart' repair. It won't last and vibration will result any filler falling out bringing you back full circle to a scraped wheel. The only sustainable solution is a back-to-bare-metal refurb. Little in it price-wise.

A local Wheel Specialist can sort that out for you. iirc the price for a GT wheel is £90 + vat.

Tewkesbury-based Reinventing the Wheel did a cracking job on the 14 year old alloys on my Subaru - needed largely because the tyres were loosing pressure. That was about 4 years ago and they still look great and the tyres are no longer loosing pressure.

Excellent. That's just the sort of recommendation. Tewkesbury local too
