Thank you to @Ewan and @philw696 for the reassurances. The car was basically my perfect specification, and it really was stunning sitting on the forecourt. So I decided to take the plunge and have put a deposit on it this morning. For all my concerns about the missed service, there were receipts for several thousand pounds worth of work on the car so it's definitely been looked after by the last owner.

I should probably change the thread title now! :D
Nice work. I saw your fb post

Yeah, I might be a bit excited and telling anyone that will listen! You're right btw, it does have PPF although it needs re-doing. I'll see how it looks after it's been prepped by the dealer, I'll probably end up getting it properly detailed anyway.

Difficult to detail a ppf very well. At least you know the paint underneath should be good if you decide to remove it.

Oh this is 10mins around the corner from me! @DaveGT if you need any local assistance let me know - not sure if you are local or not? Jardine Select in Bracknell has a pretty good reputation so I'd stay happy if I were you - also its a great colour!

Yeah that's what I meant, if it needs to come off and get replaced then that can be done. It's only partial - wings, bonnet, bumper, and the rear arches. Few minor cosmetic issues elsewhere that aren't under PPF.

Thanks for the offer. I'm based in Swindon, so not a million miles away, I was willing to travel a bit for a car in the right spec and this was spot on. Jardine have been very good so far.

For those of you not in the Facebook owners group, I finally picked up my car on Friday! It was absolutely filthy weather for the drive back along the M4, and surprisingly busy. I've had it out a couple of times over the weekend to give passenger rides to friends, I think there will be quite a lot of that in the near future.

A quick and dirty photo in the rain, hopefully more to come in a slightly more picturesque location:

I already love the way the colour changes in different lighting, amongst many other things!

Thanks for the advice. Had a chat with them and they suggested that as it's from a dealer I can get PPI done immediately after purchase if the car looks good, and use the 7-day refund right if the PPI shows anything scary - they were happy to fit me in for the PPI at short notice. They also gave me a few things to look out for tomorrow. Very friendly and helpful, which seems to be a theme with this community :)

All I have to do now is make sure I keep my sensible head on tomorrow!
Ha sensible head I had as good as bought mine when I heard it start up over the phone. And mines only a standard 4.2 litre. Choose well and you will love it the help and advice from the fellas on the forum is head and shoulders above any other I've joined they are literally replying to threads at breakfast time amazing.

I beg to differ ;) Ok, so I've not tried a 4.7 yet, so as usual, I've no idea what I'm talking about.
But mine still screams like a banshee when you give it the beans. Women swoon , grown men salivate:p
and the faces of petrol heads of all shapes and sizes light up with pure joy :thumb3:. Am I missing the extra
half litre, in an area swamped with traffic branch patrols. Don't think so. Its all I can do to keep my
licence clean. There's nothing standard about a Maserati and especially a Granturismo :rofl5:

OP - sincere congrats. A 'full frontal' photo would be most welcome, as I've not seen a GT in that colour
before. Looks stunning.

I never tried the 4.2 so can't comment either way, but I imagine it's plenty quick enough, and like you say it's still a stunning car that will get plenty of attention and feel properly special to drive.

Apologies for the late reply on the photos as I've been away, here's a couple of quick pics from a trip to the supermarket this morning - Sport button pressed and windows down all the way :D

Now that really is a beautiful shade of blue. Never seen it before.
Regarding the 4.2. I've never admitted this before.
If I'm doing forty ish on a small straight A road and I floor it.
The sensation is like if you're on a stallion and he takes off.
All you can do is grip the reins tightly and hang on for dear life.
In the GT. It feels like all you can do is hold onto the steering
wheel and try to keep it pointed between the hedges.
In a couple of moments you're at 100 mph and you know the
car wants more, but you've got to back off, because if anything
pulled out from a side road, you'd be toast.
I miss the days of scramblers, karting and stock cars. After any one
of these, all I'd ever feel like doing on the way home was tootling
along like an OAP out for a Sunday drive. I'd had my adrenaline
rushes off road and felt no need whatsoever to exceed any speed
limits.
A Granturismo in the right colour, like the one above, is like
Scarlett Johansson. Utter perfection that can't be improved upon.
