Another parking sensor thread!

Apologies for adding another thread regarding parking sensors, I've searched the forum but not come across the answer to my particular issue.

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious (highly likely). I have front parking sensors on my granturismo, there are sensors in the bumper and grill, however they are not active and have never beeped or come alive in the couple of months that I've owned the car. Looking at the manual it says they can be turned off but I cannot for the life of me find the button / switch. Seems from the manual that it should be on the panel on the right hand side of dash but I just have mode, fuel cap and dash dimmer. Can anyone point me at switch hidden in plain sight?

The button would be right next to the ones you're looking at.

So the question is: How sure are you that you have front parking sensors? A photo of the grill woud help....

Well, I definitely have sensors in the bumper and grill. I did think that maybe it had had a replacement bumper and that they had left the sensors in, however I can see that the ones in the grill are connected to a plug where the wire then disappears into the engine bay! 31ecfdc9-f210-4190-8f35-eb05fd59711f.jpg

I can't see the sensors in that photo. And I would kind of expect to.

But. Maybe you're right. The button should be the far left of the ones you're talking about

Yep, so that's sensors. Next question: Photo of the bank of buttons where the fuel release, dimmer etc are?

Stop and Go function it's called.

It's simple, you can turn then on automatically at low speeds (6 mph or less) via the NIT but they become a real PITA in traffic jams and just in general as they are so sensitive so most drivers set them to off. To turn them on manually you press the button next to the steering wheel.

With the Stop & Go function deactivated by the Multi Media System, the rear sensor activation/ deactivation operating logic remains unchanged. For the front sensors, the Stop & Go function signal status will not change if pushbutton A is pressed, and the front sensors will be active and displayed on the instrument panel as long as vehicle speed is 6 mph (10 km/h) or lower. When the vehicle goes over this speed but then slows to 6 mph (10 km/h) or lower, the sensors will not be activated. To reactivate them, press pushbutton A. WARNING: Front sensors are activated only when the LED on pushbutton A is on. In addition, the system will ignore the pressing of pushbutton A when vehicle speed is over 6 mph (10 km/h).

Thanks for that, something strange about mine then as I don't have button 'A' anywhere, they are also definitely connected up through the grill into the engine bay. The plot thickens

Looks like you have a kludge, sir. The button would be next to the boot release. The blank black one. No idea why they changed the shape of that panel either. I think the 3 and 3 is just for LHD?

Not entirely sure those are factory fit sensors either? They seem a bit in-elegant....

They’re definitely aftermarket if you don’t have the button. You won’t have the red, yellow, green infographic for the front sensors on your binnacle either; just for the rear ones.

Thanks chaps, do the ones in the bumper look aftermarket as well? They are very similar but not identical to the ones I have in the back bumperIMG_3981.JPG

I'll have to try and work out how to turn these aftermarket ones on! If I cant then they will be removed when the bumper gets a respray in a couple of weeks time

A moderator could presumably edit
ANOTHER PARKING SEASON THREAD!
to
ANOTHER PARKING SENSOR THREAD!

And maybe even all occurrences of 'grill' to 'grille'.

I've found the other part of the kludge!

I'd wandered what this switch was for, turns out when I turn it on I get continuous beeps, presumably the front sensors picking up a wall 5 miles away
