Yeah. My father took my mother off his insurance policy when she stopped driving, and the premium went up. He tried to put her back on, and the premium went up again.

It is also weird that insuring two cars (for one driver) basically costs about 2x what one car costs. Surely the main risk factor is in the driver and the miles driven.

Car insurance is ridiculous.

yup, its still a mystery to me and a real a real mine field, I think it really depends on whether an insurance company needs and/or wants the new business at that particular time of quoting

That appears to have changed now, my wife has a totally clean slate yet it was costing me £90 more to have her insured for it. And it was costing her more to have me on hers (only slightly so I have stayed on) It certainly did used to be the case (unless some IC look at this in a different point of view)!

didn't know that, might just be certain companies

the other thing that can inflate the quote/premium is disclosed modifications, such aftermarket wheels, body kits, exhausts etc, although you might think it's irrelevant you do need to disclose it and then, wait for it, your premium goes up considerably, just an excuse to hype it up. Bought my daughter a couple of years ago after passing her test a bmw mini one (didn't want the faster cooper s for a new driver) with the genuine "john cooper works" body kit and the blooming premium was higher than if i'd of bought the must faster and higher group cooper s, work that out if you can:as003:

Just like to say , as it was mentioned in a concurrent thread. Adrian Flux just quoted me with a raft of privileges like + miles p.a. - OEM garage repairs of my choice, courtesy car, yada yada...coming in under my current mob, and actually lowered it when I declared modifications...!
:p
I feel like a salesman for insurance . Ive also used them for years now on modified bikes and agreed value...and they proposed the same underwriter I am currently with...

Thanks for sharing guys... I need to do some serious investigation and resolve this once and for all. I will call all the companies you mentioned on this thread and update you. Thanks again
