Whilst not tragic in the grand scheme...
I went to Marenello parts to pick four new centre caps ( the paint periodically flakes off them !). Got a bit lost finding the parts dept on an industrial estate, and ended up trying to turn round in a narrow road outside a fork lift repair centre, and much to the amusement of those working there reversed into a forklift creasing the back bumper!!!
Already dropped the car at the body shop I use round the corner in Sunningdale.
£500 for the repair - heat reshape fill and paint bumper moulding.
GUTTED!!!!

Yep absolutely right on both points. I think it provided some amusement for those working at the fork lift place. They all.came out to have a look.

did a similar thing a few years back, thought I was being a clever dick by travelling to collect a new ignition switch from a non local dealer at a considerable saving and ended up reversing in to a steel bollard in the industrial estate, that really ****** me off

There's that certain extra element of pain and self recrimination in such circumstances!!

Hi Keith

Sorry to hear about your mishap. I live near woking and have a few minor scratches and dents that need sorting, I have been looking for a decent body shop who do you use in Sunningdale ?

Regards

Hello Canova
I use Fast Lane PAB. They are approved for Rolls Royce JLR Tesla and a few others.
Their work is simply excellent, and I say that as someone who is obsessively critical!!
I have been using them for nearly ten years and nothing is to much trouble, and they couldn't be more friendly and easy going. I damaged the bumper at 2.30 yesterday and I was able to drop the car off at 3.30 and it will be ready towards the end of next week.
Ask for Steve or Alex... and no I don't have shares in the company nor do I get kickback ! ;)

I had trouble finding their parts department too! Luckily, didn't bump in to anything though. I have had the misfortune of twice having unknown individuals dent my car in car parks which have cost me £500 and £240 to repair. Right pain indeed. Out of interest, how much did you pay for the centre caps Keith?

They were relatively cheap, by Maserati standards, about 18 quid each. As like you I have Emozionie Blue I went with a cap with a matching blue Trident.
The standard ones have a habit of the paint flaking off round the edge. I had already replaced a couple of the standard fit ones before. I have the 20" Urano wheels.
Bad luck on being hit, it seems to me that however careful bad luck just happens. At least with you it wasn't your own stupidity. I was so occupied watching the front I wasn't paying sufficient attention to the back!!

Sorry to hear of your woes, I never quite understand how people find it amusing at somebody's misfortune but it takes all sorts I suppose, going back to your reason for your visit to buy replacement centre caps I bought some new ones recently for my Spyder due to the same reason you did, the emblem part on my old ones I took off were attached to the plastic body with double sided tape, just need a cheap source of someone making the inserts with the emblem.
