(another) Car Insurance Question

Hi gents, looking for some suggestions and guidance if I may...

Got a total bargain on my multiyear insurance last year via Admiral... BMW 530i + XK8 (both 2002) for just under £600 last year. I added the QP towards the end of my policy, and that only cost me £100 for around 90 days of cover.

I've since sold the XK8, and looking to ensure just my BMW and QPV GTS... and now Admiral seem to want £1200+ for like-for-like cover. Aviva Multiyear also want a similar amount - fully comp, protected NCB discounts, SD&P/commuting/business travel.

Is this really the going rate?? Clearly an extra 500cc and Italian badges makes all the difference...

Clearly for some it does! Shop around, AIB on here are sponsors so a forum discount is available, they offer a fairly ‘budget’ policy though, I prefer the premium policies offered by Adrian Flux/A-Plan types. I have been running multi-car policies for some of my vehicles but see little savings to be had. My experience is they have a price in mind when you start and inflate the total so you can see a discount at the end for your so called NCB but in reality they have still made their £££.

Buy a current edition of Modern Classics magazine and ring the specialists who advertise in it. Also try Locktons - but they require you to be a member of Maserati Club c£70 - Locktons cover is impressive. They are also the insurers for Porsche Club GB.
Estimate carefully the sort of mileage in each car you will do so you avoid the default annual averages of 10k miles per annum.
The Post Code where the cars are located can have the single biggest impact on premium (and then driving and claims history I'd guess). Sounds like a specialist broker is gonna be better for you than comparison websites.

Thanks gents. I claimed on insurance for windscreen replacement last year, I'm sure that's a 'factor' within their algorithms.

I'll look into Adrian Flux and other specialists this week - in the meantime, going over to comparethesupermarket - by insuring my cars separately, I'll pay approx £900 in total.

Previously I maintain that multi-car always worked for me (at least for the last 4 years), but now it doesn't seem to add up.

Yeah, the Mas doesn't figure as a run of the mill motor so won't fit their multi-car algorithms.
