When I was about 13 I lived in Indonesia (my father was working there) and we had a courtyard house with a pool. Every night the bats would swoop down over the pool to catch insects and eject a little poo onto the white-painted courtyard wall as they regained altitude. So every morning one of the (many) staff had to wash the wall. Eventually my mother suggested that we repaint the wall the exact colour of the poo. Problem solved.

Didn't ever see any poo go in the pool, just splashing on the wall. Also didn't swim at night. And the (many) staff put chlorine in the water at dawn, so the pool was nice and germ free by the time I got up!
