IS one of the buyers not already on here?

Yes I am. Bought Crofty/flexwing's old 4200. Due its MOT in January, so will be booking in to see Voicey in the next couple of weeks for a service, get him to wield his magic in setting up a clutch and to check everything is ok.

Good buy.

Even if you end up spending £5k on a service/MOT, the facelifted 4200 is ludicrously good value.

That FL 4200 is really good value. Looks like a decent straight car looking at history. Wonder why it went to auction as would surely sell for much more than that.

Must be one of the earliest facelift cars. Not seen many 2004 facelift cars.

It was sold to WeBuyAnyCar and I believe sold at a loss at auction.

I was told the low estimate of £9,000 was the reserve price. I was telephone bidding and had given them a max of £8,500. That was met in the room (or against the wall, who knows) and fortunately for me I was available when the car came up for sale and bid £8,900. I was expecting a provisional sale but was told after a moment's hesitation that it was accepted and was a firm sale.

Completely blind bid based on forum reports of the car and a walk round on the phone. Time will tell if it was a good buy but I am pleasantly surprised so far by the condition given it had been bought by WBAC in the Spring.

How much would it make if offered on eBay, PH or Autotrader? Who knows. I think the market will not even begin to recover until next Summer. But I didn't buy as an investment and a £5k spend could easily be around the corner.

Mines a 2004 face lift as well

Some uninformed numpty seduced by twin turbos with more money than sense it seems. Although that 4200 went bloody cheap.

Glad I sold my 04 4200 in NZ where they are rare and she sold for a nice price and hassle free.
Made up for the loss I took on my Range Rover due to the ever increasing fuel rises down there.

They got a car that benefited so much from your stewardship.

Hi guys, as we all know, no such thing as a cheap Maser! This 4200 requires a heater matrix and clutch (sold at 71% worn). All the other stuff has been done. dgmx5 did his homework and got it for the right price.
Not the case for every auction buy. This just demonstrates the power of this forum.

Lovely condition that car, shame about the manual box.

Andy mate, In years to come the rare manual gearbox cars will become more collectable and hence go for a higher premium!
