Because... thanks to Brexit, getting stuff from the UK has become VERY unattractive. (shipping PLUS tax and handling on our side of the channel.... ) But i think i have found a supplier over here.

What tax? There is a free trade agreement between the EU and UK (as long as the goods originate from within the UK or EU).
The only thing Brexit changed was that you now pay VAT in your own country at your local rate, rather than in the UK at the UK rate. So overall, virtually no change.
For the record, I run a business that exports to the EU everyday, and have done so for over 20 years.
But of course, if you can source this part locally to pay less carriage, that makes total sense.

Some online retailers are now quoting ex-VAT prices to buyers from other countries, and then adding the appropriate VAT at checkout, so it looks like 'extra' tax. And some retailers are charging a fee to fill in the customs form, so that looks like 'extra handling', which I suppose it is.
Which adds up to, 'Oh, no, Brexit!"

Anyway: a magazine ordered in the UK for normal retailprice (so including VAT...) almost doubled in price before i could have it. (first received a letter that if i wanted it, i had to pay almost the same sum as for the magazine, before it was released to me) And i hear complaints from friends about this procedure too...

The key here is VAT. Like Ewan says there is no additional tax as long as the goods are sold EX-VAT from UK, it just means you pay the VAT on receipt. I would also suggest that shipping has not really become more expensive. what has happened in people (myself included) are not using the postal service as much because they are not set up to deal with the VAT, and seem to be making a mess of this generally. Some sellers are no quoting ex-VAT prices, which does knock the price up, and E-Bay are systematically adding both UK VAT and VAT on entry to Europe and refuse to do anything about it, which is why I don't sell through E-Bay anymore.

+ the double shipment first to the logistics company which carries out the transit in the UK and then the shipment to France + the costs of this company + the customs taxes. Of course now this company opens an expensive file for every item whether it's £6 or less :)

Yes not all EU countries have done this which of course adds to the general mayhem.

Interestingly, the two prominent parts suppliers over yonder have slightly different approaches to this when selling/shipping here.

Anecdotal, but in my experience, in the other direction - mainland Europe to UK, the cost of Brexit for cheaper things is simply the cost they'd have been originally.
The cost for more expensive stuff that has no VAT charged, is £10-15 depending on which courier as they all charge something like for the benefit of them paying the bill in advance for you - and it seems 7+ days in the item clearing customs now that we didn't have before.
Oh, and the cost for importing from say China via AliExpress is that you now actually have to pay the VAT in advance whilst before most stuff arrived without ;)

Alternative Parts thread chaps. Not a secret Brexit thread, if that’s ok.
Ooops...was NOT trying to swerve into that with my post. Apologies! I just really didn't understand why the shipments were being treated differently this month...
