It's a week of doing a lot of the passes with like minded folks in interesting cars.

This year we are going - London to Reims, Reims to Grimsel via Colmar. Grimsel to Bormio via Furka pass, Oberalp pass, Fluela pass and Stelvio, Bormio to Modena via Passo Di Gavia and Passo del Tonale, Modena to Ancona, Ancona to Igoumenitsa with a ferry, Igoumenitsa to Sofia, Sofia to Belgrade, Belgrade to Ljubljana and then Munchen, Munchen to the Nürburgring and then finally home (hopefully)

One of my favourite parts of NZ especially driving Skippers Canyon in a V8 albeit a Range Rover but you'd get arrested most likely taking anything non 4x4 down there.There appears to be a New Zealand version of this.

Check out the Gavia - it could be rather narrow (even single track) in parts - I watch them on youtube

I did the French/Swiss/Italian part of the trip in a 928GT 20yrs ago - Gavia is single track on the Southern side indeed. Stunningly beautiful, but also pride denting - the cyclists were way faster on the way down

Yep, in some of my wilder cycling days on the Scottish hills I have overtaken cars on the descents. They were normally OAP shopping cars mind so it was hardly a major achievement. I can't believe the speed the proper cyclists get up to on the Alpine descents.Often quite normal - the number of times I've had to brake for cars

I'm trying to work out the next road trip in my Gran Cabrio - we've done the Italian Lakes, Tuscany, Corsica and Spain and we've got a complete circumnavigation of the coast of Spain and Portugal booked starting in May this year (6 weeks for that one)
Puglia is definitely one option but I just can't shake the desire to drive to Crete. The other option is Norway / Sweden / Finland, but that seems to be more of an off-roader destination than GT.
We did Timmelsjoch a couple of years ago - personally I wasn't super-impressed - it was fine, but the drive from the end of the toll road to Salo in Lake Garda was really tedious. We had GrossGlocker on the list for last year and even had overnight accommodation booked at the top. It was mid may and it was completely closed so we had to re-plan and went to Venice instead.
