Why are they reprising a version of the 4C, which, even if you like it, has been a total flop? And even less in tune with Mas heritage than Alfa’s? When everyone wants a GT, a coupe? Baffling. If they’re going mid engine sports car they really need to squeeze in some luggage space

Really disappointing - their logic was so on point with the Ghibli. With such strong residuals and Maserati racing heritage and all that. Who wouldn’t buy a 140k larger 4C which will lose half its value on 9 months? Come on Maserati! Build a naturally aspirated V8 Alfieri and price it to compete with a 911! Don’t compete with nearly new Ferrari prices. You won’t win.

Agree the 4c was a massive missed opportunity for Alfa....Great looking car with disappointing driving denamics. I drove one and it was so twitchy it didn't inspire you to push on. If you want a car like this buy a Lotus as they now how to build a car like this....l

I quite often see established car magazines publish these renders in online articles essentially as a talking point to expand further on the brand and what their plans are (or their lack of plans in recent years with various Alfieri renders). Must admit I rarely buy magazines any more so I wouldn't know if they do it in print, would like to think not... if I do i buy a mag then it's often modern classics

Tomorrow Maserati are revealing the name. Car reveal is in May
Thanks. The only rendering in the next issue is some needed during a mishap some video training. Ahem

As to the car. It’ll be the Alfa QF tt V6 in the back of a bigger 4C architecture. It was originally supposed to be the Alfa supercar.

It’s nice. Not very... Maserati, though. Well, not since the 70s at least.
But it might mean that Maserati sits at the top of the FCA PSA food chain, able to compete with Ferrari rather than have its new models nicked by Maranello (California, Roma).
Just a shame they’ve got little more than a decade for a) to release cars I’m interested in b) me to be rich enough to buy them

Maserati MC20: the name of the new super sports car of the Trident Brand is announced

Modena, 20 February 2020 – The eagerly-anticipated Maserati super sports car will be named MC20.

The car was developed at the Maserati Innovation Lab, will be built at the historical plant in Viale Ciro Menotti and will have its worldwide debut at the end of May in Modena. MC20 underlines the sporting credentials of the new model: MC is the acronym of Maserati Corse and 20 refers to 2020, the year which marks the start of a new phase in Maserati’s history.

The first racing car to wear the Trident logo was the Tipo 26, where the number indicated the year of manufacture, and in the same way, the MC20 will be the first car born in the new Era of the Modena firm. The super sports car is the natural evolution of the highly successful MC12, the car that in 2004 marked Maserati’s return to racing after 37 years. The MC12 won 22 races (including 3 victories in the 24 Hours of Spa) and 14 Championship titles across Constructors’ Championship, Drivers’ Championship and Teams’ Championships in the FIA GT from 2004 to 2010.

Maserati will return to the world of racing with the new MC20.

The model will be built at the Modena Plant where modernization works are already in progress on the production line, which will also accommodate its advanced electric powertrain. At the same time, to further complete the production areas at the Viale Ciro Menotti Plant, work has already started on a paint shop, a completely new feature for the facility, which will be equipped with advanced innovative low environmental-impact technologies.

For me, the 4C was almost a great car - good looking, very well engineered but just needed a bit of tweaking & perhaps some more development so it will be a very good place for Maserati to start. And if the price is going to be 'the right side of £200k' that's an awful lot of money so I am pretty sure it's going to be special

Provided it is more than decent which I truly believe it will be, I hope that everyone gets behind the new car as surely we all want the brand to succeed?

Onward & upwards!

MC20? Not sure about that. I liked the idea of continuing the wind theme but glad they didn’t plump for Dennis.
