We had a blue phase 1 TS Spider loved it so much that I have bought it back twice. I know where it still is and wouldn't put money on me not buying it back a third time

What’s your opinion of a 147GTA vs a 916 Spider?

Spiders are floppy, get the GTV.

The 147 has a much more modern suspension, double wishbone up front rather than single on the GTV but the rear suspension on the GTV is active steer and is what makes the chassis.

147 is a hatchback
GTV is a coupe

The GTV wins hands down on that fact...I need to get another one.

I'm teetering with parting with the GT V6 this year as just not using it and can't see me getting much chance this year. Previous owner bought it for 5k....had it for a year and spent 5k on it! Had new clutch, Q2 diff few other bits and bobs. I've had the wheels refurbd and made mid grey rather than silver. Need to clay, polish and wax it. Will be going for comfortably under 5k.
Just driven the GT to have its MOT this morning. What a joy....what a sound

Not driven it much for a while only shifting it about and up/down lane. Forgot how good these are. Not sure I can part with it now. Just need to drive it more.

Its the best engine....arguably in the best chassis (better than a GTV) so as its worth so little I would stick with it for a bit.

Agreed. One peach of an engine that 3.2.V6 Busso. Flew through MOT with no issues. Little advisory on rear springs/shock showing some signs of deterioration. One of the few things the previous owner didn't replace I think.

Maybe a replacement/upgraded set of springs/dampers might be a good idea at some point.

Yep, rear springs on Italian cars of that era....they break, usually at the first coil up from the bottom...I would get on with that, springs are dirt cheap of the Bay!

Cheers Matt. Dampers will be well worn at 100k I guess unless previously changed.

Anyone put anything other than stock/OEM spring and dampers on a GT? Any recommendations?

I have the Eibach ProStreet-S kit with anti-roll bars on my GTA. Corners like you wouldn’t believe, ride comfort is pretty uncompromising. But then so’s the standard car. I’d advise trying one before you buy.

Thanks. I think a better balance might be required. Something like Bilstein B6 and stockish springs rather than harsher B12's or similar might fit the bill.

More research required I think.

Alfas chassis generally don't worked with super hard settings, they were all designed to be compliant and that needs movement. I will check with my Alfa man he has a GT setup that he thinks is just about right for the GT

You had the best model, those 1.6 TS engines without the balancer shafts were a peach
It would be hard to find a nice one nowadays

Dave

Chap in our local AROC group has just bought one. A 1.6TS Junior. Under 30k miles and it's immaculate. I bought a 146 1.8TS from new, it was a great car until the cambelt snapped just short of the 72k service. Had a couple of odd things with the throttle potentiometer going though. Huge flat spot between 2.5k and 4k revs. Solution was to just keep the revs high until I could get it fixed.

One of the best GTs I’ve driven had that setup.
ARBs are a still a good idea though

Spoke to my man, apparently Koni FSD, standard springs and Eibach anti rollbars

Thanks Andy. Funny you should say that as that seems to be one of the setups I have searched and came up with. Although some have said Eibach Pro Street S Coilover Kit.

Minefield!
