1910 was when A.L.F.A. was formed but Nicola Romeo only got involved in 1915 and in fact he didn't name the company Alfa Romeo until 1920, so Alfa Romeo Racing since 1910 is strictly incorrect

Well its all to give Ferrari a bigger political shout in F1 having Haas under their control and now Alfa too

I'd love Maserati to take on Ferrari again like in the 50s.

Will never happen under FCA of course.

Let Alfa be second fiddle to Ferrari.

I'd rather Maserati didn't race unless they were competitive.

And that would mean being owned by someone other than FCA.

Very true, it would be a repeat of the Toro Rosso/Red Bull Scenario if a 'Vettel' was found in the junior team. Someone would be booted out for underperforming if the 'junior' team driver beat the 'senior' . Which would skew competitiveness within F1, not that it wasn't already...

There were reports when Alfa was announced as title sponsor for Sauber that they were earmarking Maserati for Haas. Im not sure if it was just journalistic extrapolation or not!

Anyhow, I think FCA were quietly seeing how Sauber got on with their new engine etc.. before fully committing the Alfa name. Now the Sauber has risen up through the grid (and hopefully still will be when the new cars are launched), they are happy to have the Alfa name out there.

I'd also imagine they are earmarked Sauber (Alfa Romeo) as the 2nd tier team, and aiming for them to be better than Haas, who may have links, but currently are a seperate team.

Its nice to see, but it's just a branding exercise for advertising, Alfa won't be challenging for the championship, and most probably won't even see the podium..

The FIA will be keeping a watch on this, they are concerned about manufacturer teams creating feeder teams who may get a competitive advantage over customer teams e.g Would Alfa get more benefit from Ferrari than Haas.

In my mind if managed properly it would be good for the sport as you would potentially get more teams and drivers with an upper and lower division where new young drivers can progress from the junior team to the senior team, although Raikkanon moving the other way sort of shows that young drivers could be blocked.

Maserati Le Mans Hypercar Class?

In what though Matt.....Would love to see it but they are struggling to make a the sports car they promised so doubt there would be money for racing. Let's hope so as when they raced the MC12 it was brilliant.
