Always a fan of the unusual so when this little 146 Boxer came up with only 42k on the clock from new and owned by the same family Father, Son & Daughter I just had to buy it.

It has a few parking bumps in each of the corners and I have found one tiny hole in the outer skin of the rear passenger floor which will be repaired this week. It needs a bit of TLC mainly underneath cleaning the surface rust and then reapplying some protection and bizarrely the headliner has been stripped of fabric, fortunately there is a trimmer down the road who will have a look at it next week.

Drives lovely, its not the fastest thing in the world but the sound of the flat 4 boxer is lovely to hear.

For some reason I thought they had the Twin Spark inline four.
Most did, 1.4 (In Europe incl/ Ireland), 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 Twin Spark but the very early ones and a very few of the later ones had a 1.6 injected flat four. It's a gem of an engine loves to rev and has a really nice rasp, with it being really low down and light it makes the front end very responsive, turns in like a Go Kart and it is a real hoot to drive

There was an Alfa Sud at Prescott yesterday, sounded fab. Better than all of the Ferrari Owners Club Competition cars.

I had one of the last 2lt Twin spark Ti's as a company car. Did 130k miles in it, only running issue was when the fuel gauge showed a quarter, it was empty! However just before it went, the battery was replaced, I think the relay board was behind and it got knocked, probably with a bit of corrosion the electrics started playing up, but, it was going in a week so waved goodbye!

Mrs C had a 145 Cloverleaf. Loved that car. It got rear ended just outside Epping. She thought it was fine until I tried to open the boot.

She even mentioned it last week

My 33P4 did handle well, and the 1.7 quad cam boxer with an auto delta exhaust did sound very nice!

The 1.7 16v quad cam boxer engine was also available on early 145/146.

The engine bay is tidier than most moderns I have seen recently

Looks fabulous. How's it go? I'd have thought the saloon body's extra weight would not really have suited the boxer (although it's a fabulous engine in the Sprint and Sud)

It goes really well, never going to be the fastest thing on the planet but it is very eager, l;oves to rev and is super smooth. You really notice the difference on cornering as it turns in just like a Sud with all the weight low down it feels like its on rails
