AGM Battery 3200

Hello folks, I'm looking to replace the battery in the 3200, does anyone have any experience of using an AGM type? There are conflicting opinions on the tinterwebs (not regarding the 3200) mainly focusing on the charge rate. Is anyone using one in their 3200 here?
TIA

I used this AGM battery for about 2 years without any fault.

I've been using this LiFePO4 battery for over 5 years and am super happy with it.

Been using AGM batteries in old race cars with 1960s alternators for years. No issues at all. My understanding is that like all sealed batteries the problems come when using a mains charger rather than the car.

Is there *genuinely* any benefit, though? New sexy tech, for sure. But increased price for a potential that you may never use. The LiFePO4 things, different altogether. Way to costly IMHO for the benefit, but can see it

The only reason I use one for racing is they’re a sealed battery and less cost than Li.

Wow, $1000 ?

Everyone seems to complain about parasitic drains. or standard lead-acid constantly requiring replacement.
AGM in any of the Coupe cars is a perfect solution. Almost never had dramas of killing these in comparison.
I don't even bother switching neg terminals off(unless the car won't move for a long period of time). Not even trickle charging.

If one goes flat quick. For certain know there's something major drawing massive current load and would investigate.

Had to rebuild a R230 SL350 Merc after BCM caught fire. Starter motor battery had zero life left. K57 cutoff relay fuse was blown which also makes me suspect a faulty relay causing prolonged battery consumption paired with low voltage - high current draws in existing circuits.
Was left on a trickle charger for most of the year rather than having the batteries disconnected or the car going out and being driven to replenish.

DRIVE OR DISCONNECT! Get the batteries tested.

Thanks everyone, replaced the 3200 battery with an AGM one of slightly less cca than the Bosch wet type one I took out. It has made a massive difference to hot starting performance, starts virtually instantly even with radiator fans running and other things that load the battery up. Very happy :)

I would recommend trickle charging/battery conditioner regardless. The 3200 has a knack for flattening batteries. Left unattended it only takes a few weeks. battery conditioner is the answer. Regardless of the battery technology, if there is a gentle drain it will go flat.

For some reason(?) the blurb on LiFePo4 I’ve come across regularly claims that a trickle charge/conditioner be used if not in regular (daily.?.) use. I believe they do not discharge in the same way as LA do. Why then is this advice being given ,I dunno?
I have one in use on a bike atm, weight being an obvious reason. They don’t seem to have immediate cranking power though. Seem to need a bit of a wake up cycle…Quite annoying when the dash resets as amps drop so low on start up. Do this a few times and they are great…Until they doze off again I suppose!
I’d not want one on my Maser for that reason..Seems like asking for trouble…
