100 miles on a bike.....gees!

I did the Southern 50 as a venture scout
...that was a workout for me!
Get out of it you Jessy, if its for charity it shouldn't be easy... 100 miles in a day in summer is only 8 mph. hahahaha, you'd be fine, ask Mark, once you get to 75 the rest is downhill...

LOL....can't remember the last time I even road a bike. Maybe 1991 when I passed my driving test! Had a nice Black Raleigh Record Sprint with Cateye Micro to record my top speed of 48mph. Idiot.....no helmets then and overtook a 3 series on the right hand side. Would poop myself now doing sillly things like that.

Sorted the bike so will collect tomorrow.

Got to sort a cross trainer out for the missus now.

Wow....very impressive. You look pretty good now mate so the right way to do it I guess

It is part of the reason to get the bike/trainer and to do a bit more excercise than I currently do to fight against what might happen otherwise!

I was fat basically from birth. I did something about it in 2001, and, well....

Definitely good work....much better for your long term prospects

I wouldn't have said fat....much nicer less harsh words....built for comfort, generous, cuddly (I'm not offering btw!), wholesome....I won't go on.

Nice, Compact?

It isn’t actually. Biggest spread on the front and rear possible with a very low bottom gear and Ultegra medium rear derailleur. I put it in to do the Raid Pyrennean. People say the Col d’Aubisque and Touramlet are hard but they’re just long. But I found some of the others far harder on the Portet de Aspet I got passed by a lady touring on mtb with luggage.

Another Chimaera 400 to replace the one that broke. Existing was early MK1 1994 car with no PAS. Replacement is layer MK2 400 with PAS. Nothing silly further up the silly price ladder.

Good choice. I think if I’d had a Chimera instead of a Tuscan I’d still have it. What colour?

Thanks :) I think less harsh words are actually part of the problem we face with the obesity crisis. I was fat.

I lived Northside in Raheny, collected bike in Bluebell I think, Southside, something like 15 miles away. To ride back Google maps said 49 mins, took me 2 hours but I did it!

I used to ride Whitehall (not far from Raheny) to Kilternan (way further than Bluebell, and up hill) and back regularly. 49 mins is easily do-able.

It's amazing how motivated a young man can be when his girlfriend lived on the southside and he didn't have a car.

Aye but I was tremendously unfit, hadn't ridden for about 12 years. And 56 yo....

Actually just checked google maps, it was Clondalkin not Bluebell. Kilternan is a fair way though, lived in Sandyford as well, no bike then tho.

There was the Stepaside Inn, and the Blue Light up the Wicklow mountains, wouldn't fancy biking up there, hard enough in a car.

I'll second that Chris - fantastic effort and maintained for, what, 17 years. A complete overhaul of lifestyle. Whereas my woes started at 40+ plus with a serious back injury. I'd love to lose the weight and would if I could move. The point you make above is so true - why sugar coat it. It may taste better but the end result is the same or worse.

A few of my favourite words - Pork Features, Gut Bucket, Wobble Bottom.

Stout people are afraid to stand up for fear of never finding their feet
I didn't recall seeing this at the time but it's on one of the LPs.
When I saw the sketch the first time and realised they are stuffing their faces throughout. PMSL.

I used to love their stuff. Still do. God knows how many times I've listened to Hedgehog Sandwich

Well there is the thing...not made up my mind on the colour of replacement. It is Amaranth Purple so a dual pearlescant purple blue colour. Very TVR but not sure it is very me.

The existing is Chiaro Blue which is a nice Ferrari colour. Both are Magnolia leather interiors which blue trim
