Hi
This has just come up for sale and at a certain price I would be very tempted.. it’s a 2012 USA spec Mc sportline. Shame it’s wrapped. Being a would it 2012 it would fall into variator territory especially as it has done 50k miles ?
Anything else I should be looking out for if I view ?61531

The variator issue is based around the engine number rather than the year of registration. If you do a search on here, you will find the engine number range that you need to look out for

Yes that wrap is awful.
If you take that off it would look a thousand times better
I think it will be to late for variator problems but as others have said check first with the engine number.

That's not a proper Strad bonnet. That's a horrid after-market lash-up.
And its got a flat tyre, according to the picture of the dashboard in the advert. Who wouldn't re-inflate that before advertising the car!?!

I wondered about the 2 vents on each side... It needs some tlc but I think the guy has a few toys and most of thet time this ones parked up under a cover.

Can someone enlighten me? I always thought the howitzers out of the rear diffuser like that were a sign of a Strad? Is that a US spec thing or aftermarket or am I wrong?

Originally this rear end was just for the Strad (and the Gran-Cabrio MC). But they then started fitting it to the last UK/EU cars (post about 2018). I'm not sure exactly when it appeared on US spec cars.

But given what else he's done to this particular car, it could well be a retro-fit in this instance.

US market MC's do not have the "Stradale" part of the name, and they are sold with a fully automatic six-speed transmission rather than the one available in the rest of the world. US market cars also do not come with carbon fibre lightweight seats like the rest of the world
Its not quite the same spec though.

if you look at the Granturismo in the states there are quite a few, they like to describe them as a "stradale" but it isnt... its more like an auto 4.7s with more goodies.

No carbon ceramic brake discs either I believe

Ok.. I have just viewed the car . There is no engine number on the log book just a chassis number.
Could not get to the engine number as I assume it is on the block .
Is there any other way I can check to see that information?
Car needs a LOT of tlc, hasn’t been serviced for 14 months so due soon, is the 50k mile service a biggie ?/.
The wrap is peeling in places and it has a few areas of damage (scratches and one small dent )
The carbon bonnet doesn’t fit properly (it’s just a tad out in places ) and is a pain to close.
Drives well and sounds awesome.
Brake disks need doing really too.

Being a 2012, it’s due it’s second 4 year major (8th year)

normal service plus
  • spark plugs
  • carbon canister
  • Lambdas

At 50k miles and assuming the Lambdas were declined at year 4, I would do them.

Its going to be a £2.5k service
