Admiral refund?

Has anyone insured with Admiral had an email about a refund of £25 per car due to Covid 19 and lack of claims? At first I thought it was a scam but the email says you don't have to do anything which would seem a pretty unsuccessful scam!

Yeah. Me too. There has been some press recently about the huge windfall for motor insurers due to a drop in claims, and I suppose the decision is whether to trouser the cash or make it into a PR win, in which case there must be some 'first mover advantage'.

....although delivery van drivers seem to view the half-empty roads as an opportunity to go completely mad.

Me too. But as my mileage tracker is currently showing that I've driven 9.4 miles this month, £25 per car doesn't seem like much.

Happy to take it though!

No email yet but £100 will be on the way back to me with any luck.

Thanks for hi-lighting this.

And in other more typical insurers activity I got my renewal notice from Aviva for £937 and helpfully reminding me that I only paid £776 last year, despite having made no claims and changed my daily for something cheaper to insure. Went on their website and got a revised quote on exactly the same basis for £687 which they are happy to honour.

Unfortunately, I can't find anyone else who can match their price so will have to renew with them but it sticks in the throat.

Yes. When the restrictions are lifted I’m staying off the ‘fun’ roads for a bit and wait until it quietens down a bit. I’m expecting carnage.
