Morning All
I have just had my Admiral Multi Car insurance renewal quote.
2011 Maserati Granturismo S £580.16 I have 25+ years no claims lodged on this car
2013 VW Touareg £601.44
Total £1329.48 Ouch !
Seems high for a 52 year old, clean license with 25 years plus no claims in a PR8 postcode?

I wonder how this compares to others multi car insured forum members?

Any pointers are gratefully received.

Thanks
James

I just had the same today. Me and the wife both in our 40's, 20+ years no claims. Good post code.
2011 GT-S, and audi a4 avant.
Renewal was £150 more than last year at £900.
Called them, they couldn't knock much off, so just went on the usual comparison sites as separate policies again and got the GT-S for 500 with privilege, and audi for 210 with Churchill.

I'd recommend doing a comparison, then giving them a call to see if they can beat or match. If not, change company.

We were with Admiral multi-car insurance last year but the renewal costs were too high so moved to another provider. Most of my cars are with Footman James on agreed valuation on a multi car/classic policy.

I use Aviva. Can't remember exactly how much it was but the GT was certainly less than that (although it's garaged, 5 years NCD and on limited mileage in a low risk area). £700 comes to mind for the GT and an Audi TTS with business cover. Aviva have an app which measures your driving over 200 miles and then applies a discount to your main car - I checked a few when my renewal came up and no-one else could get close.

Not had to make a claim so no idea how they are on that.

Phone them and say you've had your renewal and now we need to work it down. I have 4 cars with them, and the house, and the renewal was over 1200, and we settled on 860 after the phonecall. BH postcode. Granturismo, mgtf, mg midget, BMW mini. All fully comp.

Usual rules, run quotes for each on comparethemarket or whatever one of those type of sites you like best. Then call them armed with the info and strike a bargain. If they can't get close enough, leave them behind.

Hi James,

Like a few others have mentioned, jump on the phone to them and challenge the renewal price...it will all depend on your specific variables like annual mileage, vehicle values, postcode etc

We have a GT, Audi SQ5, VW Eos fully comp and platinum house insurance cover for £1500 all-in.

To my surprise the GT cover is now down to £300 a year and the SQ5 is £500

PR5 postcode

I concluded it was cheaper to keep my 20+ yrs NCB on my daily and then Adrian Flux matched it on the GT for £475 @ 6000 miles a year which is just enough for me. I also have an MGB GT with them for £80! They have quite a refreshing attitude - even said 'well you can only drive one at a time!'

That's 49 years old in a good postcode - doesn't have to be garaged just off street

I'm with Adrian Flux, renewal seemed expensive, phoned around, found it so much cheaper, like over £150 cheaper, so I jumped... phoned Flux to cancel and they undercut the new one... so I cancelled that... moral is, as they said, always phone them if you don't like the quote... they don't have the time to check everyone of their customer's deals every year, they expect you to question, as all they do is renew what you had last year if you don't!

I use Keith Michaels as a broker. Good price with Ageas insurance.
Couple of things I've learned about the online hunt for insurance.
  1. the closer you get to your renewal date, likely the higher the price!
  2. the quote is affected by the number of people searching! Go at quiet times such as midweek, late night
  3. be careful of using the same computer, which stores cookies, and the revisiting a site! I use duckduckgo. Quotes tend to go up with repeat visits.
  4. don't think you are getting a bargain with 2 for 1 food or cinema - you can get that deal by buying a one off insurance policy on a bus ticket for around £2.....

On my AMG C63 I got the best online quote from my current insurers but 120 less than their renewal price. Phoned them and they agreed to price match their own numbers!

There is an optimum date related to risk which is around 4 weeks before the renewal date. The theory is that someone who is organised and seeking renewal at that point is lower risk, or at least so say the numbers.

I do that every year with Green Flag for breakdown cover.

I have never been able to get a multi car quote for two cars to be cheaper than two separate quotes.

Neither have I. Gave up on it a few years back. There are also issues with not building up NCB on the individual cars when you go down that route

I just phoned Admiral because I know the renewal is due expecting to have to wrestle the price down . It came back at £570 total for my Gransport and Audi Allroad , and that is paying in monthly instalments aswell which is always a bit more expensive . I thought that was good but asked the very nice lady if she could do any better and it came down to £499 !! That is a bargain ! I highly recommend Admiral Multi Car . And the phone staff are always very nice too .

Well comparison websites came back with Esure at £349 for the Maserati and £635 for the VW.
The problem is Esure will not cover the Maserati for SportingBear Charity events, bloody mingebags.

So called Admiral and the nice lady has reduced the Maserati to £455, and VW to £501.

This is the issue I find with multicar insurance, some companies will quote high on certain cars because they dont really want to insure them which must be detrimental to a multicar policy if say one car is a Maserati Grantourismo and the other a Ford Fiesta.
