Hi

Just had a small bump in the rear from a motor bike, just scuffs and scrapes. Contacted Dick Lovett , as recommended by my insurer, to arrange a quote for the paintwork. They put me through to Accident Exchange who they say do all the paperwork, book the car in for repairs, provide a replacement car and chase up the third party. has anyone any experience with Accident Exchange.

These type of companies are okay, in respect that they can deal with a no fault claim without involving your own insurance company, if it is cut and dry the other party was at fault, as in your case.
The problem is, they are racking up insurance costs.
My friend had his front bumper damaged by a tractor, while his car was parked up at a track day car park, the car being a 997 Turbo.
It took 3 months for the repair to take place, and during that time the accident management company gave him a 997 Turbo Cabriolet.
That is okay, but his 997 Turbo was his toy car, he didn't need a 997 Turbo Cabriolet, but the tractor drivers insurance paid for it, at what cost? to be paid by insurance premiums!...and I bet the accident management company had a nice cut of the hire costs!

Agreed. They take the p!ss and drive up everyone's premiums. Parasites. Avoid if you can, for the sake of humanity.

Sorry to hear about the accident though, but glad you're ok. Bloody nuisance.

You'll find that the motor cycles insurance will match the company that you are talking about. If I were you I would call them and explain what you have told us and ask them what they are going to do. I'm sure you'll get what you want out of it.

DL put me onto them when I had my RTA last September. Very impressive same day response with a replacement M3 Cabriolet & apologetic that it wasn't a Maserati! Paperwork all handled efficiently, the weak link was DVLA!

Just called Accident Exchange to give go ahead and when I mentioned that I would not need a replacement car as I had another daily driver they said that they could not deal with this as they only get involved when a replacement car is provided. This tallies with a review I saw on another forum where it was suggested that they make money by providing expensive like for like cars at high rates for long periods and recovering costs from other parties insurance.

If you were to take a replacement car then would there be any additional cost to yourself? If you were to take the car in a situation where the person at fault was not clear or the other party changed their story then who would pick up the bill? Seems to me that this company is at it, however I don't ever see them struggle as the majority of people will happily take a like for like replacement car.

I just hope nobody crashes into an expensive car or you would be on the wrong end of a MASSIVE claim....

My insurNce did the same for a no fault accident - Masser was parked and third part reversed into it.
Cut and dried no fault claim - hire car provided by a hire company not insurance or repairer, only got a E class Merc as Masser over 10 years old (shame)
"No charge sir - won't be a problem sir - three bags full sir"
6 months later invoice in post for 3 weeks hire charge of a Merc ( I used it twice!) third party insurance had not paid so now it was down to me! Read very small print.
Took a couple of phone calls and a snotagram letter to get charges waived
