Abs / msp fault

First fault since owning the GS, nearly had a year....

The abs / msp lamps to not go out after the ignition is turned on, the last time I drove it there were no issues and not the warning lamps come up without even moving, so don't think it can be a wheel sensor.

Have tried the battery reset several times, will check fuses now.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Maybe the abs controller is gone. It's a common fault on the 3200 but on the 4200 seems to be reliable

Try doing a hard brake to see if the abs engages or the wheels lock.
In any case you will need a sd2 to give you the exact codes causing the light.

Thanks, Sounds expensive!

I'll have to have a run out to Shiltech and see what comes up when plugged in.

Will leave battery off a bit longer, but by the look of it as soon as the system does a self test it stays in fault.

Wheels do lock up so definitely no abs.

I think the unit on the 4200 is reasonably priced unlike the 3200.
Better check with eurospares

Had this on my QP many years ago, which also turned out to be a faulty wheel bearing sensor

Had this also recently abs/msp/suspension - again faulty wheel sensors. Unfortunatley the sensors comes dressed in an expensive metal coat...

Yes the ABS modules for the 3200's is the Bosch 5.3 if IIRC, and the ones in the GS and 4200's is the Bosch 5.7. To date I don't know of specific issues with those modules. You could do it the old fashion way with a multimeter. I think the resistance should be between 1.5-1.7. But to be sure check all of them and they should correlate. Whatever sensor you have that keeps climbing and giving you erratic readings would be your bad sensor if that's the issue.

Had this on wifes old Mercedes. One sensor found open circuit with meter, was actually ok, was a chaffed wire.

Thanks for the info, I still plan to get it on the diagnostic then see if I can fix it myself.

I take it I would have to check each sensor at the hub or is there a quicker place like at the ecu, to avoid removing the wheels?

There should be a plug for each one, I did mine there, assume maserati will be similar, then from ecu, as sensors checked ok.

If someone can get you a service manual you will see the pinout of the connector that goes to the ecu. You can test all sensors from there

Took it the the independent this morning and the computer won't communicate with the car!

Now booked into the main dealer to see if they can see what the communication problem is and then look at the abs.

Hopefully no more problems

Sorry, I mean the diagnostic kit would not communicate with the car at all, could even get as far as to look at the abs.
Had this problem last year when trying to check clutch reading.

Hopefully not an expensive issue...

What scan tool are they using? My scan tool won't communicate with the ABS units or the Capote components either. I could get into my Spyder if I kept trying. But it's common with the Leonardo system as well. They cannot always access the ABS modules, and I know they cannot get into the Capote settings either. The dealer specific tools are the only ones I know of yet that can access both the ABS, and capote settings. Air bags is another one that some of the aftermarket systems cannot get into.
