Just because you are old doesn’t mean you are ready for the scrap vultures! That’s b0llocks!

Some Manufacturers have seen the benefit of looking after Classics and their customers its also proving to be good business.
Mercedes, Porsche,Jaguar and Land Rover for starters.
Then you have Minis and MGB where you can build a new car completely.

But it’s not just about that - or someone sending me an order form and taking money for something the factory do not produce any more. It’s about the way they just cut you off. Different from you guys - you all seem to care.

It’s not the agents it’s the factory and the mindset that should be Maserati and isn’t any more.

Bob you are wasting your breath, they paid me £100 for me to tell them that they were shortsighted for not having a Classiche department.

I never give up. It’s too much fun. Find me an old family member and I will send them a mail in Italian.

Much as we might not like it Maserati doesn’t benefit from supporting its old models.

Ferrari has a Classiche division where you can get parts for everything from a 166 to a 360 because it’s heritage sells cars, Jaguar and Porsche the same. Lamborghini has not long started because it knows the kids who had Countach posters on their walls now buy their cars. Maserati don’t sell cars based on their heritage, they sell them as an aspirational lifestyle brand much like Bentley. You only have to look at where their advertising budget goes to see what they’re aiming for; polo, golf, sailing, film and celebrity events. We aren’t Maserati’s customer base and that’s unlikely to change in the near future.

Good points but it doesn't mean that the mindset can't change. Why settle for second best?

Once again - good points but I seem to remember that Maserati were beginning to do the same - reproducing old docs etc in a classiche collection. But whatever Maserati do, this forum is fabulous and keeps the marque alive and only needs a little help. We are Maserati's customer base. Why not ask Maserati to let self interest groups get together and produce the their parts under license at a reasonable cost - just as is happening with brake discs, roll bars etc? We used to make cars here in the UK - surely there are some old craftsman out there with a lathe and a forge - or are we all dead from the oil filter up.? The owner base is expanding from the once exclusive new owner models to include the balding tight-arsed enthusiast, make and mender - a Felcher who just loves the cars for what they are not what they represent. Surely the more old cars there are around in good condition, the better the advertising for the new ones we can't afford.

Felcher - I wrote Fletcher, meaning straight-as-an-arrow-honest, not that abomination? Just looked it up in the Urban Dictionary and then fell off my chair laughing. You learn something new every day! Check Hamster Felching - Onion News. Armageddon out of here!
