ok, has been cold and frosty for a week or two but today was cold and bright so intended to take the GT out for a "gentle" non sport spin ;)
however walked round the front before starting her and both headlight washers were popped out and lying on the ground! I can only assume with it being freezing recently that water has frozen, expanded and pushed them out? (or it was a poltergeist...;))
now wont go back in...........ideas please

If they have popped out you may need to look for the springs! Mine shot across the garden when I dismantled it and took me ages to find.

Its been a while but as I remember you can't put them back in properly from above but need to take them out. That means, wheel off, wheel arch cover out, inner splash plate removed and then lots of swearing whilst trying to remove the body from a bracket.

Hopefully there is an easier way......

If it is anything like here up there, then the springs may still be in, set in ice. Maybe why they wont go back in.

If it was registered before 1st September 2009 they are not part of the test - saved me this year with my sticky one!

Quite the problem there! Amazing what a lower temperate can do! I suspect you could easily be the first person that’s happened to, amazing.

Funnily enough i read this post on sunday evening and after coming home from work today found one of mine had decided it no longer wished to be attached to the car and was lying in my drive. It will go back in but is very loose, looks like the little tabs that hold it inside the ram have broken!! Freezing scottish weather possibly to blame.

got one to go back in and it is tight but driver side one clearly missing something because it just sits in place loosely. looked on eurospares but could not find part or number, anyone any ideas? Have MOT locally at end of Feb so if i have the part the garage can fit before testing for me.

Did you pour warm water on it to help it go back in? It's white outside here and my GranTurismo is all tucked up and SORNed in the garage till March.

lol. Marci's garage (old stable on side of blacksmiths building) was the plan when i got her but she does not fit so Fiona's boxster in there, much to fiona's delight :(
no, did not use any water, yesterday was a bit of a thaw here so chanced my arm with them. As said, passenger side back in snug and tight, with a slight click as it went in. driver side is the problem, either something missing or it is stuck too far.

Is the part in question this 980145143 , its under headlight clusters on eurospares. I fixed mine, it was also very loose, there are a couple of locking tabs that attach the jet section inside the ram and they are broken, punch the part number into ebay and you will see them. i changed the oring and put a little glue one the part that slides into the top of the ram, left it a few days and tested it this morning, it worked perfectly but the other side fell off!!!! doind the same repair to that, probably need new ones at some point.

Once you have your fix, a couple of tips you could try to extend its life:

-turn to half lights very briefly when you use the wash wipe; or
-drive over the speed when they are disabled (think it’s 130kph).
