Good afternoon chaps, Mrs. Oishi and I enjoyed a killer day out in our Spyder GT.
Started out with a local car show..76652
Dodge Daytona..76653

Shelby Daytona Coupe
76654

One for the Mustang fans...76655

And one for you Healey fans....76657

Then it was up the coast via back roads to the island...76658
and a little seafood place for some great food.
It was a superior day, low humidity, 76F and sunny.
And the Spyder purred like a big cat the whole way. Hope you guys had a great one too!

^ Yep Wattie, they were built for the high speed NASCAR tracks, a number had to be built for road use to be legal (like homologation). If a real one, they go for big money. The Shelby is a Factory Five, and is for sale. Lots of cool cars at the show.

Thanks for the vid 1B, I've not seen that one. Growing up in Charlotte, as a teenager I would hang out at Ralph Moody's shop, and learned a lot from the old men there. Those guys were the equivalent of your "garage-ists", Chapman or McLaren. I knew several of the people mentioned in the vid, brings back fond memories. I can't remember who on here was thinking of a GT40 as next car, but Lee Holman (John's son), now owns Holman Moody, and is building an exact copy of the GT40..

Although a lot of Europe likes to look down on American racing, the likes of Holman and Moody, Penske, Mark Donohue and Dan Gurney in the late Sixties and early Seventies created modern motor racing as the business it is today. They brought a level of professionalism into car preparation that was unheard of in Europe.
