A GOOD READ

Hello All,
I'm currently working overseas and looking at taking the plunge on something special in the £30k-£35k range when I get back to the UK later next year. From a cast of 996 Carrera 4S (personally i prefer its **** to the 997), Jag XKR and V12 DB9 (limited range in my price bracket) I have decided that the winner for me is the Granturismo S. Due to the limited availability (i.e. almost none) of these cars where I am I have to resort to youtube videos and trips to dealerships when travelling. I like to get a feel for a manufacturer, and the cars. I know there is a lot of info on line but I am a little old fashioned and would prefer a good book. Here lies my question. Could someone please recommend me a good book to read about Maserati, something that delves into the history and all the models to date. I've seen the 'A Century of History' but is it really worth £103.57?

Thanks in advance

Speak to Richard Grace who is a forum sponsor and Mr Maserati for good used cars.
When the time comes I certainly will, thanks for the tip. My next post was going to be along the lines of ‘who’s the best persons for a pre purchase independent inspection?’

Depends where you are located and a potential purchase is but there will be several places recommended with again some being forum sponsors.
Contact Richard.

Aldous Voice at AV Engineering.

Out of interest, where are you based? I'm sure there are some good books around, but I'm not familiar with any. Someone will be along soon with a recommendation, I'm sure.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

There are loads of books about Maserati and its heritage, but Century of History is a very good read and one of the few volumes to cover recent models including the Gran Turismo, Ghibli, and QP VI (my copy is ISBN 978-88-7911-573-5 dated 2013). They come up from time to time on Ebay at around £50-£80; do be wary of inflated prices though, and postage will reflect the book’s weight of c2.5kg.

An excellent point of reference is Enrico’s website; it contains a literature section in which there are brief reviews of various Maserati works:

I'm currently in South East Asia and not entirely sure where i'll be coming back to just that my contract will be coming to an end soon and it's time to head back to Blighty.

That's a nice part of the world.

If you want anyone here to cast an eye over any cars you want looking at then you'll find an enthusiastic bunch of people who are always happy to find an excuse to go and poke around a Maserati. Or any car, in fact!
