Mrs Conaero had a 1.4 Visa when she was 19. I remember the entire tailgate was made of polyester.

I had the 1.4 R14 back then and they both had the same engine from memory.

This will probably raise a few eyebrows but personally as an ex Rally boy I like it.
Citroen also put a Rotary motor in this model too.

Another hooligan car from the 1980's..A Mk1 Fiat Uno Turbo,840kilos and 105 hp standard

Although tricking the engine management would get well over 170hp or even more!

And with half the weight of say an old 4200GT, they were totally bonkers performance wise!

Last one I owned was in 1995... 840 kilos! a regular Renault Magen with the same performance weighs in over 1400 Kilos..

Fabulous little things.
Though - and it pains me to say this is an Italian car fan - on the day the Daihatsu Charade GT-ti was even more fun on the day, even if it did try to garrotte me with the seatbelt. To maintain an Italian link, I believe De Tomaso lent his name and expertise to a Daihatsu Charade with a similar engine...

De Tomaso renamed the Innocenti Mini, after they took them over, as a De Tomaso Mini and fitted a 3 cylinder Daihatsu Charade engine the hottest version with a turbo

And how about the 1984 Lancia Y10 turbo , that perhaps was faster, and even lighter!

Of course most on here would have been still at school when we were driving these things around ;)
