I’ve looked at a few. Joy Rainey had one, there’s a guy who drops his daughter off at the nursery opposite everyday in one (fair play) and there’s a couple of others round here.

They are quite simply the worst finished car I’ve seen in the last 30 years. Dacia and Kia are better built.

Panel gaps are massive and uneven, doors stick out, there’s visible rusty screws and bolts everywhere. I was going to say I’d not seen anything since a mid 80s Lotus with that much visible contact adhesive on seals and trim but I think Esprits we’re actually better.

If you’re thinking of a second hand one run like there’s a man after your knackers with rusty garden sheers. They’re cheap for a reason.

I agree they’re cheap for a reason, the build quality isn’t the best. The warranties and maintenance cost a fortune too.

nowt wrong there, just expansion gaps , actually that is quite gobsmacking, how on earth do they get away with it, are buyers simply suckered in to believing that's acceptable

That’s the bit I don’t get, this was Joy Rainey’s and it was the same.

They just made to many of them and flooded the market, that was Ron Dennis for you..
But that ex Nissan WEC engine they were allowed to use was a cr*cker! saved them lots of development time and a huge amount of cash
Bit like the old 4200 maser arrangement back in the day!

I really like the idea of a McLaren - I was tempted by a 12C last year but decided I really wanted the Spyder (partly due to roof but partly the handling improvements that came with them) - but they were a bit more than I wanted to spend price wise at the time. Earlier this year the 12C was down to £60k, but they’re currently £70-75k, which puts them in the same bracket as the 540/570 which look great value. The 650S is nice, but a bit more again.

I like that they’re so bespoke, and that the majority of people wouldn’t know what it is. The only thing that makes me nervous is that with few produced compared to mainstream cars you’d always be beholden to a main dealer who can charge what they wish.

This is a 720s so a £220k car I think

You won’t see anything like that on a Ferrari.

That's not cool or groovy. Whilst I understand McDealers will remove and refit all the panels to make sure they do actually, er, fit, they shouldn't have to.

2019 onwards was better, by all accounts. As for depreciation, you'd need to buy it to keep it. If depreciation is a worry, don't drive cars.

Friend in Silverstone traded his 911 for a 12C and now hates it, loves how it goes but has lots of niggles to the point he now thinks nice day I will get the Macca out and then thinks but something will break so best leave well alone. He has used it a fraction of the time he used his 911 it's just become a garage queen that never gets used.

Now that's a shame.

Of the entire McLaren range the only cars I can distinguish from the others are the F1 (obvs), the 12C and the Senna.

All the others just look the same.

The finish on the one above is truly shocking! Imagine if Porsche or Ferrari or Lamborghini delivered cars in that state it would be on the front page of every motoring mag! How do McLaren get away with it?
