I wouldn't be at all surprised if the 4200 engine could rev to 9k, in honesty

10cc was rumoured to be the average ejaculate volume from a Mancunian male!
Hence the name of the band, but its not true
C
Probably more like 5 ml based on their diet, hydration and frequency of relief!
And the flat plane crank....
C
I believe it can rev to 9k rpm. The give away to me is the sound of the engine, it sounds just like a 4200 engine. I bet it's been remapped and delimited.
The GTS can be changed to 8250 (morebeans FD remapped car did at least)
Supercharger would be the better, easier and cheaper route to gain more than the F430 with its thicker headgasket to achieve 4.3 capacity or a skim off the top of the piston
In reality I believe it's a slightly longer crank throw to a acheive the minuscule capacity in crease.
4244cc vs 4308cc
Over 8 cylinders that's a massive 8cc per cylinder extra capacity hence my thicker Headgasket remark and to give you an idea of how much 8cc is, 10cc is the capacity of the teat in the end of a condom
Unless you're thinking that Mancs are somehow 'bigger' in the bedroom dept 5ml would still be a big average.
C
Have you been looking whilst I was in the gents?
Revs faster, though
C
Thought this would create some controversy It does seem to rev quite high...
He's short shifting it for a Ferrari V8 - they all go to 8800rpm. The engine does not sound like a single plane crank. Remember the singe plane changes the phasing of the firing strokes so each bank fires every 180 degrees - sounds very different.
The 4200 engine uses cast not forged internals (can't speak for a 430, but my F355 engine has titanium conrods as std). Cast internals cannot take RPM 8k is about the max for any cast conrod, and plenty fail at this speed. I've even snapped forged rods....View attachment 39801

I bow to your knowledge but I have to disagree with you; after DMS removed my red-line ignition cut I have (accidently) taken my (4200) spyder round to the (turn) dimmer switch without exploding. I try not to do it but, as yet, it hasn't complained. True, the power drops off above 8500ish but, as yet, there hasn't been an exoensive bang. IMO, these engines are as tougher than a rhinos chuff. Why it hasn't gone BANG it a mystery to me and several of my driving buddies but long may it remain so!
