4200 Rear Light Removal/Replacement

Hi All

Some t*at appears to have reversed into my car and put a sizable crack in the RH rear light lens. Not a major issue as only visible from up close but 1) its really bugging me and 2) it will probably leak now in heavy rain. I see a replacement is not too eye-wateringly expensive wondering how easy are these to remove/re-fit? Looks (as usual) like access is the main issue. Are they just bolted/screwed on from inside the boot? If I remove the boot trim is this an easy job or more involved?

It’s relatively easy; remove the appropriate side of the boot liner and that will reveal the harness connector and, IIRC, 3 10mm nuts. The rest is easy.

I may have one on the shelf on the garage, I'll have a look, I think I gave about £75 for it and never used it, mine was a water ingress issue causing bulb failure which I resolved. They have different bulb configurations in the red parts so need to check (I didn't and hence got the wrong one).

While you're in that area check for any rust staring to form. Even if it's okay it's worth spraying a bit of rust proofing wax around the seams.

I can't believe anyone would dececrate a perfectly good 3200 by adding a 4200 Spyder to it... sacrilege!......;)

What actually happened was, I took the best bits of a 3200 and scrapped the rest. Since the conversion my spyder has been the most unreliable it’s ever been. Coincidence? I somehow doubt it.
