Nice I have been trying to find a more high end product that would work and I did not realise the screen can be mounted remotely to the DIN unit on that Pioneer model - devil's in the detail, right!

I think I would have to have a remote mounted screen fitted in front of the nav screen if and when I get a GTS . I can't bear the thought of spending £35k and having to look at that number pad on the dash .

I think I’ll do the same!

I’ll try to take some pictures as I go. In the meantime this is what I bought (decent price from this seller, arrived quickly). Looks like the prices are coming down a bit so you could maybe do better.

This is the long cable that you need, outrageous price but this was the cheapest I found (and I paid £5 less)

This morning I laid out all the new bits I’ve got to put in.

An hour in it looks like this:

Looks terrible, but critically that is New Order playing via Carplay, and it sounds great. The NIT is completely removed and everything still seems to work in the car (apart from the console button lights and the hazard switch but I have a plan for those).

Just need to put everything back together now.

It's actually Joy Divison unless Ian Curtis has un-hung himself .... but who's counting:D

Do you know what, I got them mixed up on PopMaster the other day and now I’ve got my wires crossed. Let’s hope that’s the last crossed wire.

That white plug hanging over your new screen is the key to sorting the lighting and hazards... Check the earlier posts in this thread :)

Nice work!!

Thanks, yes, this thread has been very helpful. I’ve got this tiny step down buck converter that should convert 12V to 7V and deliver 1A.

Hopefully I can just wire this to the correct pins on the white plug, just need to make sure I carefully follow the information earlier in the thread.

I haven’t found a hazard switch I like yet, suggestions welcome.

Try the JDM Civic hazard switch, looks a lot like the one used in the GS.

Thanks. This one? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/112885259862

It looks pretty cool, I might well.

My system is in and working now. I still need to do some cosmetic stuff and finishing off but Carplay, DAB and the microphone are working well. I have an ISO to DIN adaptor for the FM aerial on the way.

Here are some more pics of the work so far:

The black front of what was the CD player is missing because it needs a bit of repair. Externally it is fine but some of the interior screw brackets shattered when I took it out. It’s very brittle and I should have been more careful, but easily fixed.

The bezel fits very well. It is a very tight fit against the dash covering and I’ll spend a bit of time getting it to seat better. Then I’ll paint it. TBH I’d expected more hassle getting it all working and wanted to leave the cosmetics until everything was sorted.

So far my impressions of the Pioneer unit are extremely good, both the sound and functionality. I had already upgraded my speakers to Focals all round so can really hear the difference. There is no comparison with the NIT.

So far so good!

Edit: Since writing this post I’ve fixed a problem that I had. The Pioneer unit lost all of the settings every time I switched off. Turns out that the Maserati ISO connector is wired slightly non-standard. The permanent +12V and ACC +12V pins are switched. The permanent +12V keeps enough power to the unit to preserve the memory when the ignition is off.

Fortunately the Pioneer ‘power’ cable allows for this. There are two red wires plugged together and two yellow. Swapping them to two red-yellow connections fixes the problem. It’s mentioned a bit cryptically in the Pioneer installation guide, easier to see with the cables in front of you.

Can you tell me which models you got for front, sides and rear, please, as that's the next job I want to do?

Any modding, or did they fit straight in?

That's a pretty sweet install

C

Yeah I will second that really good work done there.

Thanks both. The help on this forum has been superb, I really just followed what other people had written. Plus Saberwolf’s build and bezel made all the difference. The Pioneer unit could have been made for this installation.

I’ve got to take off the A pillar trim to properly fit the DAB aerial but it is working pretty well resting on the dash for now.

Might settle for a cup of tea and do some more tomorrow.

I will happily do that. Give me 24 hours as they do fit straight in but I learned a lot about how to wire them up that I think would be helpful.

PS I have a Spyder so only front and rear.
