Looks good, looking forwards to seeing the end result and how the aircon system communicates with the screen.

Shame that.... I have seen the aftermarket solution for the GT AC controls and they look good.

Where does the hazard light switch go in all of this? I’ve seen bezels made but they never keep the factory switch.

Luckily I’ve got a GS so I don’t have to struggle with headunit compatibility.

Fair question - one option from earlier in the thread:

74494

How much room is available in the void behind the screen? Will a 75mm deep double din unit fit in the available space... I am considering something like this https://uk.jvc.com/car-entertainment/android-auto/KW-M560BT/

That is going to be very tight - even if it does fit you need to consider the connections. RCA, speaker ISO, etc.
Iirc this is the problem Edwin247 (on ML) ran into - think he de-soldered the connections and refitted through 90°

Getting closer...

Long 40 pin IDC cable made and working successfully.

Bezel test fit (not pushed fully back in case it got stuck!):

Found the screen fouled the AC controls and hid two buttons :(

Having to remove the lovely shaped peak at the top of the bezel so I can raise the screen up:

Screen is upside down in this photo, but it gives a good idea of what it’ll look like in the final position:

More work to do this weekend!

Rain stopped our plans for today, so I covered the bezel in black pleather and went in for another test fit.

It fits like a glove!

I

Looking good!
I got my buttons back from Lorenzo today and put them in - it makes such a difference to the overall look of the dash

Oh wow, they look ace! Mind me asking how much and how long it took, please?

And thanks for all your previous posts and 3D files etc. I wouldn't have known where to start without them!!

Sablewolf having kindly sold me a spare 3D printed bezel, I’ve just taken delivery of a Pioneer EVO62DAB. The screen is separate from the main module and can be up to 1.5m away, which in my Spyder means that the main module can sit alongside the now redundant NIT under the centre console.

I’ve just trial fitted the screen to the bezel and to my eyes it is a nigh on perfect fit. Now all I need to do is connect up all of the cables - I’ve been waiting for the bad weather to start. Wish me luck.

That looks excellent!
The unit I have is an android unit (Essentially a 7inch PC) so all the add ons (Nav, DAB radio etc) are apps that can sometimes take a while to start. It’s taken me a while to get the functionality to be ‘sort of’ usable, and hence my suggestion to you that a purpose-made car stereo might be a better choice.
Can you please let me know where you sourced the pioneer unit as I’d like to have a look at the specs and see if I might swap out the android unit.
Would also be interested in hearing about what the Pioneer Unit performs like once you’ve got it up and running.
In the meantime, best of luck with your endeavours!
