4200 oil pressure

Ive just completed my first time oil and filter change on my 4200. The filter was a B@stard to get to, and I enlarged the hole in the plastic under tray to get to the tank drain. For the last year, since I owned the car, the pressure stays at 2.5 Bar, hot or cold, but after the oil change it now sits on 5 only dropping a little om idle. I used Shell Helix Ultra despite my usual miserly approach to expensive oil!
Ime certain I haven't done anything else to make this difference, so is it only the fresh un-sheared oil that makes this difference? some of my other cars have oil pressure regulators which limit max pressure.

Oh dear. Sounds like the wrong filter has been fitted, I’ve seen it done.

Either that or the wrong grade of oil.

My GS at idle was always pegged at 5 bar when cold, dropping to 2.5 bar when warm.

Do check the filter as Matt says, but if it’s right and the oil type is correct then too much is better than too little. And it does take a while for the oil to warm up.

Genuine Maserati filter, exactly the same as the one fitted previously, shell helix ultra oil.

If you think changing the filter is a chore you want to change the oil/water pump unit on your back at home.
