Hi Guys

I thought I would just share this with you all in case anyone else suffers from the same problem in the future.

I have had the occasional problem opening the boot using the switch in the glove box, although the key worked fine. Yesterday, I had a bulb out warning light on the dash and on checking found it was the number plate lights were both out.
Having recently changed the lamp units and bulbs, I knew it wasn't the bulbs. And not the fuses as they were ok, and thigs kept working and then not working again.

What I have discovered is that the wires that go from the car to the boot lid had broken (you can see the rubber "hose" on the left hand side of the boot when the lid is open).

I guess that after many openings and closings of the boot lid, the wires had eventually bent back and fore until they had snapped, or in my case just the earth wire. The wire had broken at the boot end of the cable just inside the rubber hose.

It was an easy fix to cut and strip the old wire and rejoin. I covered the joint with some heat shrink and job done!

Hope this is of help.

Regards to all

David
