Has anyone had to go this route with Maserati ?
My fob is split. It is the only key I have for the car too. I wonder how convoluted and expensive is it to replace? And is it possible to update a 4200 key to a remote that incorporates a fold-away blade design...?

Grtzzz....!

Out of interest, is it possible to get a new key from Maserati or elsewhere?

As I understand it, you have to go to Maserati for your new key. Not only that, you need the original code that was supplied with the car. It was put on a debit/credit card style plastic card and delivered with the Owners handbook, Service Schedule 'wallet' owhatever, that is part of the car purchase at the the point of sale. Id hate to guess at the problems losing this would mean should you need to replace the key.....

You don't need the card or the code. You need to send Maserati / supplier copies of the V5 and proof of address, then they send you a key (with the code). Then you get a suitably equipped person to code the car to accept the keu.

I guess having the key code means you can skip the whole "find a suitably equipped technician' bit....!?
Although it raises a potential question that might present regarding 'proof of ownership" .
Sounds like a faff. I just wanted to present my code, get a key, get fleeced and pass GO ! :D

If it's anything like Alfas. then nothing hard about it, just expensive.

Unless you have a 156 where they can only be done at main dealer and a new key is £1,000 + VAT!!!! That would have cost more than the puppy that chewed it!

I was quoted £150 for a replacement key by Dick Lovett last year for the GS

Hi there,

Does this include recoding to the car? I have a second key which came with the car that works the doors, alarm etc. but does not overide the cars immobiliser. I have checked inside and the little black chip is present so assume it just needs recoding??

That's really helpful, thanks. Haven't collected the car yet, which is on sale or return with a dealership, so they have approached the owner to see about getting hold of the second key. Also bought one of the replacement rubber inserts, as the key I used on the test drive was ripped!

Not at all. There are two codes. One is a hardware definition of the blade. The other is the emergency start code. You still need to get the car programmed to accept the new key.

As far as I can recall it was the whole deal, problem I had was the timescale between thinking about it and going on the SM Spanish jaunt. Have not got around to it since.

Just bought two myself, I replaced mine a few years back for more than this and one has split after 5 years use...
