Okay I am here! As Nico already said, I opted to get mine varnish before shipment. When it it arrived, the varnish didn't set correctly and the bubble wrap was sticking to the part. Nico refunded me the 15 euro. I can not comment how good the finish would be as mine arrived with issues. This tells a couple things: 1) for you guys sending your parts back out, be sure they get properly set before being shipped back and 2) be sure the one doing the varnish knows what they are doing.

I had to get mine refinished at the tune of $65 USD which is a bit more than I thought it would be. The good news through all this is it will be mounted by mid next week so I will send pics your way once I see it.

Also a silly question, but what is the proper way to mount the spoiler? Do the screws go into the side or top of the trunk? How is the spoiler oriented? I noticed one side is more curved and the other more flat. Want to make sure the body shop does it right.

The larger face is to the top, it really only goes one way! The holes need to be drilled into the edge of the boot where the top curves into the back, (so on the curved edge) I think Nico had a photo on this thread how he done his , let us know how you get on.

To the others:-
Photo of how I sprayed mine the end result is pretty good you know when the last coat is acceptable as the rubbing before shows up all the carbon grey powder in the blemishes so when these go your there!!!!

I'm sure the screws are centre then equal distance from each end (3in total) so you can turn around if need too, the holes need to be larger than the bolts/screws and a rubber washer and a penny washer fitted inside of boot before the nut goes on, hope that makes sense? The larger hole gives you a bit of tolerance to move the spoiler to fit the curve. Good luck if you want I can come over and fit (if you pay for my air fare;))

Hello Silex840
Thanks for your update ! As I said on this forum, the spoiler you received did not accept the low temperature and differences of presure in the plane I imagine during the long fly to you.Maybe not dry enouhgh I wanted to send it fast..The result when I put into the box to send to to you was nice..I have never seen such a frozen varnish when arrived..(thats is why I refund the 15 euros)
I was desapointed and now I happy to know that finaly you managed to find where to make a better job.
Marti to have a better result you should clean again your spoiler wit a "whater sand paper" 400 and put again varnish.it will be flat like a mirror.

The method and products used for silex wont be same as the method for yours.
The men who will do it is realy a specialist in CF as you could see on pics.

Just an update, the spoilers (all 4 of them) were dropped at my paint shop on Monday. Nin is going to paint them but he is flat out so it will take some weeks.

He did not quote a price but he just said "You know Ill always sort you out" so recon we are looking at no more than £50 a pop.

He did say that you cant layer the lacquer too thick as it will start to crack so we are still not out of the woods yet.

Thanks to Marti for offering to do them for us and I hope his nipper makes a swift recovery from his broken hip.
