Im fairly new here. I think this is the correct way of posting my question (please let me know if it’s not). I’ve had my 4200 GranSport a few months now so I’m learning its quirks and character. Picture attached. I love it!

I have a general question. Is it normal for the EBD light to come on when I put the car into reverse? It instantly goes off when I put it back into 1st gear.

Also, I have just upgraded my battery from an after market cheaper one. The new one is a Varta A7 Sillver Dynamic AGM 70 Ah - 760 A. Hopefully that makes sense to people (it doesn’t me, it was suggested this is the best one for the car given the electrical requirements). The battery on the gauge doesn’t appear to go above 13v even when driving. Again, is this normal? I do have a CTEK5 drip feeder which I’m using as well.

Apart from these points. I absolutely love the car. It’s my third Maserati (Levante & Grecale previously). Obviously very different to my previous ones but a lot of joy so far!

Welcome... and what a lovely car that is.

Re the EBD light, No. It should not come on unless there is a fault with that system.

I have had 3 coupe over the last 20 years and my GS now since 2014 and non of them have displayed this problem.

Hope the fix is easy and quick.

PS. Your car appears to be missing the Gransport body modifications and wheels?

Looks like a Coupe rather than a Gransport, as suggested above you don’t have the Gransport wheels or bodykit. I can also see from the photo that you have Coupe seats and the Vintage Pack (chrome door handles and side vents) which was not available on the Gransport

I did think it was a coupe with a few bits of extra kit when I bought it but all the paperwork says it’s a GranSport, so didn’t know what to put on the post. Tbh, it’s a lovely car for the age and apart from the couple of points I’ve raised, it drives like a dream. Once I got my head around the CambioCorsa gearbox

Keep it in Sports mode and use the paddles as it's not a automatic box.
Go and have some Fun.

Still looks lovely, and I preferred my 4200 coupė more than the Gransport TBH.

My volt gauge reads quite low too, less than 12.5v, but I have a battery and alternator tester which shows that the alternator is putting out around 13.8v which is pretty healthy and the battery charges fine.
 
Because its a GT car, not a sports car... and let's be honest, the roads are so dire, congested, and monitored your can't travel fast so is there any pint in a GT trying to be a fast sports car?

Probably great around a track with perfect tarmac and sweeping curves and all the cars going the same way.
