@FIFTY - the supplier has confirmed that the Gransport solution does fit a 4200. Below is the email text:

Jon,

I just wanted to let you know that we finally got a 4200GT/coupe this afternoon to test out the Gransport cup holder kit. We can now confirm that our current Gransport kit can be updated with minor changes to the seat mounting bracket so that it will fit both the Gransport as well as the 4200GT/coupe. We will complete the new CAD drawings tomorrow so that this modified design will be standardised for all future production runs. Hope this information helps. Thanks.

Kind regards,
Ray

Thanks @JonW , is the price that you have been quoted for a pair of just a single cup holder?

I’ve assumed it’s for one, but it’s a good question which I went back to ART to check... Below is their response:

Hi Jon,

Yes, a kit is for a single cup holder, we call it a kit because it comes as a cup holder arm assembly, a seat mounting bracket, thumbscrew and fastening bolt, and a pair of nylon washers. Apologies if there was confusion in my description.

Some additional information, each Gransport single cup kit weighs approx 295grams, so packed it should be just under 400grams each....

Do you still want one?

Could you please? Seems a bit ambiguous to me if a kit is 1nr or 2nr cup holders at that price point

Oops - I must have been editing my post above at the same time you were writing yours... It’s definitely just for one.

Quick update - I’ve just spoken to Ray in Melbourne, and everything sounds great. The intention is I will get an invoice and final confirmation in the next 24 hrs, and will then transfer the cash.

He has also just sent the photo below.

Note that the one depicted is set up for to be used inboard (closer to the centre tunnel) on a left hand seat. Each kit supplied can be used on either right or left seat, inboard or outboard, just a matter of flipping the seat mounting bracket around and fitting the cup holder retaining bolt from the appropriate face. I have asked that they pack each kit with the cup holder arm, seat mounting bracket, pivot bolt/washer set/thumbscrew loose so that it can be assembled as required. Also, given that the 8 Gransport kits are meant to be used on 4 different cars, with a left and a right per car, they will preassemble them this way and pack them in pairs.

Installation is straight forward and should take someone good with tools under 30min to complete a left and and right pair (after assembling and disassembling over 100 times during the design and testing stage, Ray says they can install a kit in about 6min).

Another update - I’ve now received the invoice, and have just paid for 8 Gransport cup holders and 1 MCV cup holder... Am very much looking forward to these arriving.

Costs so far are

8 * $89 (Gransport) = AUD$712
1 * $79 (MC-Victory) = AUD$79
Freight (5 day express TNT). = AUD$95
Invoice from ART. = AUD$886
Paypal costs. = AUD$6.98
Total paid. = AUD$892.98 (which = £510.15 at the exchange rate from PayPal)

It’s possible these will come through without incurring VAT (or duty), as on an individual cup holder basis they are pretty much on the threshold of when VAT and duty kicks in. However, as a bulk purchase of 9 I suspect there may be VAT payable on top... I suggest we wait until we physically have them in the country, and then we work out final costs, etc...

Woo hoo... look what I’ve got...

Can you all please let me have your addresses, and I will arrange postage.

I spent some time this afternoon trying to fit mine, and I can see where they are meant to be attached, but haven’t quite worked out how to undo the two bolts... more practise required.

Ok - I installed my cup holders this morning, and figured I’d do a how to post... hope this is helpful.

Step 1 - raise the seat to its highest position, and move the seat back forward using the electric adjuster

Step 2 - remove the four retaining Allen key bolts that hold the seat rails to the floor of the car.

57817

Step 3 - tilt the seat all the way back and disconnect the seat motor clips (pic is of the drivers seat)

57818
57819

Step 4 - remove the seat and rails for easier access

57820

Step 5 - undo the 2 13mm hex nuts that hold the front of the seat onto the rail

57821

Step 6 - position the arm of the cup holder over the two bolts and tighten the nuts

57822
57823

57824

Step 7 - Refit the seat, tilt it all the way back and reconnect the motor clips. This is easier if you loosen the wire from the cable clip

57825

When refitting start at the back and move the seat all the way forward to make sure you can get the positioning right for the seat to slot back in place

Step 8 - enjoy having cup holders!

Sent details

Just read it and reply sent....

A quick update on costs:

To my surprise there wasn’t any duty or VAT payable, so the total price was the £510.

This splits into £113 for the four of us who have bought two holders for the Gransport, and £56 for Hasluck...

I’m thrilled with the holders, and think the look and styling really suits the car!

All fitted this afternoon, I didn’t have to remove the seats so didn’t need to disconnect any clips. Thanks again Jon.
